Hot Dog Heaven — Restaurant in Amherst

Yet another disappointing experience. Second visit in the last month. I held my previous poor experience as an anomaly but after this evening I had to write. I have some positives to try and balance the negatives.

Starting with the positive. The serving a French fries is very generous and they're pretty darned good. Quite a unique fry and a good oily flavor that you can only get with a deep fryer. -My chili dogs with slaw were also very good. Generous portion of sauce and slaw. -The kids are always happy so I'll try again in a few weeks when we think of it.

The negative. -They always seem understaffed, not that the wait times are excessive but the effect it has on cleanliness is questionable at best. I did not see anyone cleaning tables or wiping anything down in the dining room or outside while we were there. -I would like to believe that some additional cleaning happens behind the scenes but the outward appearance doesn't make it seem like that happens, Lowes or any grocery store or other "chain" wipes down the cash register after I use it. An establishment that serves food would make you think they would be doing everything possible to make it seem that they're taking the current situation seriously aside from a sign on the door. -On my previous visit the person taking my order and running the cash register proceeded to then get drinks with the same gloved hands, gloves are just like your hands, if they get dirty so does everything you touch!!! -If gloves are too expensive, dedicate employees to one task or wash your hands please. -Finally the last two visits I have gotten a carbonated beverage from the drink fountain, both visits and all four drinks have left me very disappointed, they did not taste like Pepsi, Dr Pepper or Root Beer. Very watered down and poor taste.

I'm not comparing Hot Dog Heaven to a chain, we try to avoid them other than grocery stores or the home improvement store as mentioned but please try harder. If you think Covid-19 is a hoax then please let me know I will not visit again, I am not a lemming believer but we all need to do our part, that's all I ask. Do not sit still and rely on your reputation forever, before you know it it may not be...

Mr P.Hunter one of the rudiest young men I have ever delt with ! He stated "I quits in 3 days and don't care about the rude nasty service" he and his crew gave over them not getting the order correct. He then even went as far as calling me a lier about the order I placed. If this is how this business treats seniors and children the owner should be ashamed of them self and these actions . as a past restaurant and food critic I give this place a thumbs down 👎 food was cold and plain. $70.00 for what's called bar food wow ! But worse than bar food. Wendy's would have been better. And I would have received better service from a bar than this place. To the owners shame on you for hiring such spoiled non caring young people who do not take pride in what they do, and not care about the facts that this is your business and your livelihood they are representing. In today's society small business are struggling to stay afloat and should strive to do better and then some franchise. and this entire crew was not only horribly disrespectfu and nasty to me but to my grandchildren as well and acted very proud of the fact they were. I heard such good things about this place and as a FIRST time visitor with my son and grandchildren I was never more disappointed in the service especially.! congratulations Mr Hunter and good luck in life with your disrespect and lack of communication skills and the ability to act human ( how you treat people and act in life reflects on your up bringing" Keep that in mind the next time you choose to behave poorly and disrespect someone especially seniors and small children. Again Good luck you will need it . To the owner hire better staff the place is charming, some what clean , and food was cold, service was rude and disrespectful ! But...... I doubt the owner even cares or reads...

I recently moved to Amherst and everyone talks about the local hot dog heaven. The first time I went through the drive through the worker threw the clipboard into my lap in my car for me to sign the receipt and said “sign this” i said “okay thank you” handed it back to her and she ripped it out of my hand and took it. I was nothing but pleasant towards her saying “thank you” and “have a nice day”. At first I’m like “whatever just a moody teenager” bc the workers are all teenagers there. My next drive through experience I ordered ice cream and some few drinks. The lids of the drinks were not on all the way and spilled all over the interior of my car. At this point I’m like “okay whatever they’re busy I get it”. After that the many times I’ve gone since then and attempted to give them chances today I had it. I ordered 2 chili cheese dogs. I went home and opened it and I kid you not I got 2 raw hot dogs with no buns. Who orders hot dogs with no buns from a hot dog establishment? I had it and went back there and as soon as the one male teenager saw me he said “yeah I know” he immediately knew that he gave me the wrong stuff. I opened the boxes with hot dogs with no buns and I said this is unacceptable.

Hot dog heaven count your days because you have lost a customer who is new to the city and will be telling their friends to not pay their money to this establishment.

I have never seen an adult there and these teenagers are not being held...
