Joyful House — Restaurant in Amity Township

My first and now last experience with this restaurant. One of the worst I've ever had. Visually, the vegetables appeared as though they had been hand ripped into massive chunks instead of clean cuts. They were just piles of sad, mangled, barely identifiable green globs. There were a few chunks I couldn't identify whatsoever. I ordered the Thai Green Curry and it was the worst mess I've ever seen. I took one small taste and threw the entire container away.

I also ordered a shrimp and vegetable dish from the Chinese section of the menu which was edible. I did eat about half before my stomach started to turn and tossed the rest of that. There was nothing remarkable about it as it was just a plain brown sauce with soggy breading on the shrimp.

The only saving grace was the Pad Thai which was actually decent, so my husband and I shared that for our dinner. It was visually appealing, packaged well in the takeout container and tasted great. It's not really eat in. It's more take out than anything else. And they work so fast. They have a wide variety of dinners. Oh don't forget to try the shrimp egg roll. The won ton soup is very good and also the pork fried rice is scrumptious You really get a lot for your money there. I really believe they are the best Chinese food around. I am a very picky eater. My pallet is difficult to please. To me it's excellent. I come all the way from the city of Reading, PA. and go-to Douglassville to Joyful House to get the best Chinese food around anywhere. They also have a great cold Iced tea that I like, it's their own specialty brand of iced tea. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Do not plan on your order ever being made. I placed an online order, went to pick it up 30 minutes after doing so and it wasn't ready. When questioned, they said they forgot to look at online orders (why is that an option on their website then????), and they would make it as soon as possible. I went back home, waited and hour and called to make sure it was ready. The woman in the phone said it was being made and would be done in 15mins. I left about 10 minutes after the telephone call and live 15 minutes away, it still was not ready. I paid, and waited another 20 minutes and they never started making my food. This was a special dinner for my family and they straight up lied to us on the phone and to our face. WE WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN....
