El Arroyo — Restaurant in Angels Camp

As someone that’s passionate about Mexican food, I was so impressed with El Arroyo. My parents are locals and have come here a few times and would not stop raving about this place. After finally make the trip over here and trying their chicken tortilla soup and their weekend special Barbacoa tacos, I was blown away with the flavor and tenderness of the meat. Ordered steak fajitas. Could not chew the chunks they passed off as steak, the onions, green & red pepper minuscule strips were soggy. Asked for some sour cream & received 3 watered down tablespoons & charged me $1.00. Gave 2 small flour tortillas. I cannot imagine why this place received any good or fair ratings. Overpriced, food sub- par. Will never eat there again. Waitress never asked about drinks, such as water, coke, or beer. Big disappointment...

I wish I would have remembered to take pictures of the food, but everything was delicious and presentation was awesome. We got the ceviche which was light and fresh, the guacamole and a burrito bowl and burrito, both full of flavor and portions were perfect.

Love the new decor and vibe inside. Everyone was kind and attentive.
