Sierra Hills Natural Foods — Local services in Angels Camp

Wow! What a cool grocery store!!! I used to be a grocery clerk, and this place is really a standout by any standards. They serve the people that live nearby, as well as people traveling up Highway 4 towards the high country. I've had their sandwiches a few times and they are always excellent. On this point I've been in there when there were huge lines of people waiting to be served. The sandwich makers are extremely professional and personable. Honestly waiting at a sandwich counter is always pure chaos, especially when there's a line of hungry patrons. You can always tell the quality of the people behind the counter by how they perform their duties, totally unflustered by the riot on the other side of the cold-case. And naturally, this is all done with tremendous flair and wonderfully well-made sandwiches. The rest of the store is well-stocked with terrific looking produce, a very wide selection of beverages, and all of the staples that anyone would need whether traveling to a nearby cabin or just going back home to feed the cat. We were on our way home after spending the day at Calaveras Big Tree State Park. My wife is vegan and had been craving a sandwich when she mentioned she noticed Sierra Hills Natural Foods as we drove by it. I said maybe they have a sandwich counter so I made a U-turn. The store is small but packed with lots for good things. They didn't have a sandwich counter but we left with some items my wife had been keeping an eye out for and hadn't been able to find in Sacramento. Gotta love the obnoxiously exclusive small town attitude. Just wanted to buy some pain meds and the woman at the counter was so cold to me. Like, I get if she was just having an off day but she was soooo nice to the woman ahead of us and then just straight up ignored me trying to engage her.

And I feel like there are enough reviews on here already about how they don't even try to enforce masking but that's still bad in case anyone thought that might have been remedied.
