Let me start by warning you not to order the Ceviche-Style Cancun…

My three friends and I visited for dinner around 7:30 PM on 7/17/2024. We were seated as soon as we walked through the door, which was a plus. We were tended to quickly, and that was consistent during our entire experience. Initially, we were asked if we wanted any appetizers. Minutes later, we were asked what we wanted to drink. Our server was also kind enough to ask if we needed more time before we ordered our entrees (to which we asked for an additional 5 minutes). Our server returned and took our orders, and all was good.

Next came the biggest problem with the experience. For the record, I had lowered my expectations for my order for many reasons. First, we’re not near the beach. Second, no one had previously reviewed the ceviche. Third, the restaurant didn’t claim to be a seafood expert. When I got my order, I was left speechless at what I saw in front of me.

My plate was 70% Pico de Gallo, with a few slices of dry-looking cucumber, small plastic-looking shrimp, poor-looking slices of avocado, and small dashes of red salsa all over it. I stared at my plate in disbelief, thinking there was no way this was real. It was so bad my friends asked me if I was okay. I wasn’t okay, but I told myself I hadn’t expected much to begin with, so I tried my best to eat it.

There was no taste whatsoever. The shrimp reminded me of imitation crab because it literally felt like there was no way it could be real shrimp. Imitation crab would have tasted better. I sprinkled Valentina sauce on top to try to make it as best as possible, but it could only do so much. Once again, I asked myself if this could be real. I couldn’t believe I would be charged $17.99, and I couldn’t believe this was being served to customers. Not to mention, the tostadas that accompanied my order were also stale. I had to resort to chips to finish the rest of my fake-viche.

I didn’t mention it to the server when she asked our table how we were doing because I didn’t want to be “that customer.” Instead, I decided to warn everyone to stay away from the ceviche. Overall, I give the restaurant 1 star to reflect the great customer service they provided, but I cannot give any additional stars for my food. A big thank you to our server and the other employees who brought our food and opened the door for us on...

This place lost my respect and business after what happened to us Saturday night. We eat here at least once a week and last Saturday, 03/29/25, we were involved in a hit and run by a red, lifted ford 250, let’s not forget my husband and I and OUR baby were in the car at the time we were hit. I got out of the car thinking the truck was going to stop and get out.. no he decided to speed out of the parking lot while giving me the middle finger. I ran inside asking management if their cameras work because we were just hit and the guy ran. You know what they told me? No our cameras don’t work so I called the police. The police asked if the cameras were really not working and they changed their story real quick. Unfortunately we weren’t able to get a plate but I know the truck and the description of the lovely man who hit my vehicle and continued to drive. We drop soooo much money at this place. We always bring friends or family with us because we truly enjoy the food and drinks but after Saturday, I will not be back. I don’t care how good this place is. I was a paying customer in an accident in YOUR parking lot but you wanted to protect the guy who was in the wrong? SHAME ON YOU! I’ve worked in the food industry before and a good manager isn’t going to lie about their cameras working or protecting someone when they’re in the wrong.

UPDATE: 04/24/2025 - owner reached out.. it has now been over 3 weeks and never recieved an emailed, call, or given me an update. Disappointed and upset is an understatement at this point. The way this business has handled this situation has been very upsetting. My family and I have been brushed off. Will not be returning to this location. Your parking lot is not safe especially when it’s...

I almost never leave reviews but I had to today. Talk about going above and beyond…

I have been ordering from Mi Cancun in Angier for the last 6 months. The food is consistently delicious but this review is all you need to know about the staff:

Long story short, I was hosting some new friends for a meal and we ordered takeout. There was a slight mixup in the order (my fault) and we were missing 3 flour tortillas for our fajitas. I called them to let them know and we didn’t really have a great option to fix the situation, so Victor literally asked me for my address and left the restaurant to deliver me the tortillas so we could enjoy our meal as planned.

Not sure about you but that is the type of customer service that just doesn’t seem to exist these days. Not only did he rush to our house to deliver them (didn’t ask for extra money or a tip) but he also threw in an extra order of chips and guacamole.

As long as I live in Fuquay, I’ll never order Mexican food from anywhere else.

Thank you so much Victor and the whole staff at Mi...

This is the best Mexican restaurant in Johnston County. It might look small and out of place, but you have to try it! It’s an amazing culinary experience. The food is so authentic and flavorful. They have a wide variety of dishes, all made with care. I highly recommend the parrillada. It’s the best dish on the menu. The meat is perfectly grilled and seasoned, and the sides are delicious. Everything is fresh and tastes great. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They know a lot about the menu and can recommend great dishes. Whether you’re a Mexican food fan or just trying it for the first time, I highly recommend this restaurant. You won’t regret it!

Unpretentious and authentic. Thanks to our friend I got to taste their spicy 🌶️ salsa with their complimentary nachos! Spicy in the real sense of the word! It was fantastic! Reminded me of Andhra food from India. The Salmon tacos were delicious and beautifully presented. They graciously allowed me to switch the rice and beans for grilled vegetables which made the dish extra flavorful and lighter. All the ingredients were fresh and served with genuine hospitality. Their dishes were unlike the usual cliche Mexican food. Would love to go there again.
