Ever been mildly terrified by someone who makes fantastic ice cream? I have, and it was at Sunni Sky. The proprietor is the most energetic and enthusiastic person I've ever seen behind a counter. On learning it was our first visit, he gave us enormous samples of flavors he was genuinely excited to share with us, all while flying around the store handling his business. We had to stop him so we could finally order before we were full! His personality is larger than life, and may be a little intimidating for some, but if he's there know that it's just because he loves his craft. To his credit, everything we tried was amazing. They truly have a gift for making delicious ice cream. To illustrate just how tasty it is, while we were there we witnessed middle-aged adults stopping in alone, buying ice cream, and eating it in their cars. It was early on a Tuesday afternoon. I have never seen that at an ice cream place before. If you're in the Raleigh-Durham area, you owe it to yourself to take the long drive to Sunny Sky. It is way out of the way, but entirely worth it. BRING CASH - THEY DID NOT ACCEPT CARDS AT THE TIME OF MY VISIT. Obviously this may change someday, but it appears to be their...

Has interior and exterior seating. The exterior seating is maybe 4 tables on a porch (covered), and there are several tables to the left of the building in a yard of sorts.
This is homemade ice cream at its finest. There are about 150 flavors to choose from. There is a menu that lists each in alphabetical order. Recommend looking at this before placing an order as the display that is visible doesn't show all. I do, however, tend to eat ice cream with my eyes. Anyway, you can sample as many as you like before going with something. I did just that. I settled on the Brownie Batter on a waffle cone. Excellent.
Everything is cash only, so come prepared. My one scoop with a waffle cone was 4.50 to give you an idea of price. This is excellent relative to other ice cream joints I have been to.
There is some hoopla with the flavor Exit Wounds that requires you to sign a waiver for some spiciness reason. We overheard someone speaking about it but were too consumed with our own goodies to fully listen in. May be worth...
Read moreMy family and I love this place! We come here often. Best ice cream around. If I could make one recommendation, it would be to invest back in the business and make the establishment larger to accommodate the popularity/customers. Sometimes, it's like walking through a busy night club to get in, and you have to fight your way out after you get your ice cream. I would invest in doing something similar to the pics I attached in this review. This is a spot in NY that my family and I love to stop at when we go home to visit, and I think it's set up perfectly for an ice cream stand. Outdoor covered patio area with tables and chairs, enclosed with garage type doors and a paved parking lot with parking spots. There's also multiple windows inside for customers to walk up and order. I understand this may not be the owners vision or maybe not possible for various other reasons. Small town feel is good but sometimes, it's better to invest and grow. I think it would increase revenue long term also. Just my $.02. Still a great...
