Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Ankeny

My daughter and her boyfriend took my granddaughter and I to dinner. The three of us adults ordered taco salad and my granddaughter got a child's quesadilla, my daughter's boyfriend asked for his meat to be on the side and when it was delivered the meat was in the shell and everything else was on the side. I asked for extra sour cream and onion because onion did not come with it and when it was delivered I didn't have my extras so I asked the waiter about it and he brought me sauteed onions I had to send him back to get raw onion, I also asked for salsa because that didn't come with it either and he brought me some sort of runny stuff that was nothing near salsa. The taco meat had no flavor it appeared it had water in it the bottom of the shell was completely foggy there was no flavor to the meat. My granddaughter's plate was brought out five to 10 minutes after the adult plates. Placed an order for a steak burrito and a order of Mac n cheese for my daughter, the burrito came out in 90 seconds, I bit into the burrito and got nothing but sour cream, took another bite more sour cream. I open the burrito I noticed a few sad strips of beef, lots of lettuce and of tons of sour cream! 🤢 meanwhile my daughter is patiently waiting for her dinner, my waiter is no where in sight, so I flag down a bus boy and asked him to check on my daughter’s dinner, 10mins go by, my daughter is starting to wonder if she’s getting any food, 15min go by and the waiter finally shows up with her Mac n cheese. I can tell this was quickly tossed together and the cheese sauce was so watery also pale compared to the pic in the menu. I’m not the one to complain I just won’t return, so I decided to end it early and go pay, the manager was stationed at the cash register, she took my CC then asked how was everything? We had a dinner party of 7, with plenty of space made available to us by combining some tables. There was more than enough room to accommodate us even with other larger groups dining that evening. From the front door to our seats, the team at Guadalajara is the utmost friendly and welcoming of any restaurant you'll find. Our dining experience was great. We were served quickly and treated well. Our server was attentive, took great care in our orders, and checked on us throughout without a delay. We had the house margaritas, which are a Monday special...highly recommend for value and quality! Every meal option will be made lovely and will definitely be filling. The renovations and expansion over the last few years have only made the location better, and the decor and atmosphere are wonderful. I've never experienced a poor visit to Guadalajara.
