7 Brew Coffee — Restaurant in Ankeny

As of 12/04/24, I am still loving 7Brew in Ankeny, Iowa. They're the best coffee spot around! Everyone is extremely personable & very friendly and they even go to all vehicles to get your order, no matter if its very cold, snowing, raining 🌧, hot 🥵 or even when its beautiful outside and the sun 🌞 is shining! I truly enjoy going there every day (sometimes more than once a day). If you haven't tried them, you're in for a treat when you do. I started getting my drink (large Toasted Coconut Chiller w/extra whip). There's 4 shots of espresso, whole milk, toasted marshmallow syrup, coconut syrup blended with ice for a frappe texture, and they top it with triple whip 4me! Awesome drink! I've been here enough times to get a "FREE" drink, and I'm almost halfway to getting my 2nd "FREE" drink. After you buy 10 drinks, the next one is "FREE," and it doesn't matter if you get a large, extra shots of espresso, etc., you still get it "FREE"! Make sure when you go, to have them sign you up for Rewards. They take your mobile number and that's what you give them anytime you order your drink.

I've been extremely impressed by this place. The music is always pumping, getting you in a happy mood as soon as you drive into line (at least, I get happy when I hear the music LOL). Everyone who works here, that I have met so far, has been extremely personable and very kind. They make you feel like you've been going there for year's (even though the place just recently opened in Ankeny). The prices are actually pretty good, compared to Starbucks and/or Duncan Donuts. They are also very efficient.

Hands down, they are better than Starbucks and Duncan Donuts, etc. Drinks are much better and the prices are much better!!!

My son even likes them better than Starbucks! He had gone to Starbucks and got himself a medium latte with oat milk and honey and 5 shots. It cost him over $9 for 1 drink. I called him and let him know that I was stopping to get a coffee from 7Brew, would he like one, so I got him a medium iced latte, oat milk and honey with 5 shots and got myself a large Toasted Coconut Chiller with Whipped Cream (delicious) and both cost $11.00 which is way cheaper than Starbucks!!! My son really liked the drink. He said it tasted like the latte that he used to get every day in AZ. He said the honey they use is really good. My son and I now get our drinks at 7 Brew Coffee!

Update as of 08/29/2023, I still go to get my coffee from here every day, and they're just as fantastic as they were the first day I stopped to get myself a drink! There are so many special people here, and it makes me really happy to see them every day! If their Chiller happens to not be working and if you don't like the hand blended chiller, they will replace your drink or will give you a free drink when the Chiller is back up and running. They found out that it was my birthday and they made sure to give me my favorite drink, free of charge, of course! Everyone is great at the location in Ankeny, including the manager, Jake! So I am a big 7B fan, I love the coffee, they have non-coffee options that are great for my wife. My two daughters love the strawberry smoothies. But my last two visits to this location have put me off for this particular location. My last two visits leave me with a feeling that I don't need to visit this location, and I would rather drive out to Ankeny's location for now. My last visit before today had me waiting to place an order as the person taking the order chatted nonstop for a min and a half about a topic that was not related to 7B. Then after placing my order I had to wait 2 mins after the car ahead received their order and continued to chat with 2 people while they were all laughing and acting like there was not a line waiting to receive their orders. Then today's order was quick to be placed and was a friendly exchange. Then, pulling up to receive our order was off-putting. My iced coffee had a broken lid that was forced on the cup, and coffee was spilling down the sides. I had to ask for napkins to clean up the mess in my car. We go there probably 3-4 times a week and when it first opened, it was amazing. I'm not sure if it's been staffing or changing of the seasons, but this summer has been very hit and miss. Sometimes, the drinks and service are great. Other times, it takes 10-20 minutes to get your drink or the service is abysmal. It seems like they are also running out of flavors on a weekly basis. Strawberry is the major one that goes out, but blue raspberry and salted caramel have been a close second. I get it, supplies can't always be in abundance, but when 70% of your summer drinks include strawberry flavoring, you need to be ordering more. That said, we have noticed the quality of the drinks drops when the staff is mainly high school students. Recently, we were waiting in line for 20 minutes only to find out that some of the staff had stopped by after their softball game to run in and grab free drinks...making their own and slowing down the lines. I think going forward, we'll be looking into the Ames or Merle Hay locations for...
