Hardee’s — Restaurant in Ankeny

Arrived at 6pm (prime dinner hour). No employee in sight. I could hear people talking in the back, so I cleared my throat a couple times hoping to alert them to my presence. Nothing. Finally I yelled Hello, does anyone work here? Nothing. After about 5 minutes someone wandered out of the back room. He didn't even notice me at first, but when he did all he could do was scream to the back room Hey we've got a customer! Then a very pregnant woman came out yelling to the other employees sarcastically Don't worry I've got this! At this point I didn't want any of these morons touching anything I am going to eat. So I just walked out. There was only one other customer in the place, and nobody in the drive through. I can see why! Last time I was there, there was a screaming cussing fight between the employees. This place is pathetic! Management needs to be fired and the employees trained in customer service and professional behavior. I went 2 blocks away to McDonald's which had 2 drive-thru lines wrapped around the building and a busy dining room. Usually my visits here are pleasant, and the food is bomb. However my most recent experience, today, wasn't. As soon as my friend and I walked in we heard a lady complaining that her beef was cold, so naturally my friend and I were already on edge about it. I wouldn't make a long review if the experience ended there, so strap in. I ordered not ten seconds before my friend, but got my food around ten minutes before he did. First thing I checked was whether or not my food was cold, and it wasn't so that's good. However it wasn't hot either. This burger was mushy and frankly kindof gross, like it had been sitting out for quite a while. When my friend finally got his burger (he ordered the same one as me) his burger wasnt cold but, like mine, was old and gross. They completely forgot to add mayo to the burger which was one of maybe 5 ingredients that went on it. How you forget that? Idk either. All in all, what is usually a pleasant flavorful visit to my favorite Hardee's turned into an unpleasant and disgusting one. 3 stars because I like Hardee's, but if I were to rate this particular visit, it'd be 1 star. Walked in at 11:45am April 27. No one was in line to order. There were four vehicles in the drive thru when we had pulled in. We stood at the counter for seven minutes watching the five employees and manager try to get a single drive thru order correct. Another patron had already paid for his meal and was waiting in the lobby with us the entire time we were in the building as they forgot fries; meanwhile his other food was getting cold. After seven minutes one of the employees said “It is going to be a long time.” We asked if she was talking to us, she indicated yes with a head nod. My mother asked how long it would be and the employee shrugged her shoulders and responded, “…long time.” Then walked away. We told them to have a good day and that it was pathetic as they were not even busy. Horrible customer service, ineffective use of resources that five employees couldn’t even get one order figured out, and unfortunate for whomever owns this location.
