CHUNG DAM — Restaurant in Annandale

I ordered jokbal on Thursday evening (August 8th) via take o/a 5:40pm. Remembering how delicious it was when I ordered it downstairs while dining in few months ago l, I couldn’t wait to experience the taste again so I drove all the way to Annandale from Fort Belvoir area under rainy weather and traffic. However, the experience this time was disappointing and moreover, appalling. When I brought the food back to my hotel in Fort Belvoir, I was extremely hungry so I dug in unconsciously without thinking much about the taste. So by the time, I was done eating nearly half of the food and regained consciousness, I realized there was a pungent odor settling in my mouth. It was indescribably unpleasant. It was either an old stench from the store due to improper storage or simply of… urine. I almost threw up after the fact and put away the food. And believe me, chucking raw garlic and pepper while eating first portion of the food actually mitigated the terrible experience that could have gone worse. We had heard great things about this restaurant and decided to try it for dinner. After tasting the dishes, we understood why this restaurant is so popular. All the dishes we ordered were delicious, with generous portions for each. They were freshly prepared using fresh ingredients, and the seasoning wasn't too heavy - just perfect. The service was top-notch, and our server was amiable and professional. The interior made us feel like we were transported back to Seoul - authentic and cozy.

If you want to experience both the most authentic Korean food and exclusive Korean drinking culture, this is definitely where you have to go!

I bet their Bossam(tender and chewy boiled pork) and Jokbal(pork trotters) are the best in town. The portion is so huge as well. It’s big enough to serve upto 3-4 ppl. And try out the Beef Tendon Oden Soup and Beef Shank which are exclusive and soooo tasty.

There’s no photo here but there’s also a bar where you can easily grab a drink if you’re not really craving some food. Oh I also love the menu design! Looks so cute and fantastic...
