I especially love Pho Hot because their vegetarian pho is truly vegetarian. I can't comment on the regular pho since I have never had it but for vegetarians this place is awesome! Most places will use the same meat based broth and simply add vegetables or tofu, onions and noodles and call it a day. This place has a separate vegetable based broth that is absolutely delicious and they add tofu, sliced vegetable protein loaf and seitan as the meat substitute.
I brought my boyfriend here for his first pho experience and being a meat eater he ordered a meat based pho and I ordered the vegetarian pho. He thoroughly enjoyed his pho but then he tried mine and has gotten the vegetarian pho ever since.
The vegetarian spring rolls and fried rolls are delicious as well. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for amazing vegetarian pho.
Be advised that this 5 star review is based on the food alone. The restaurant is a little quirky. It is large and clean with bright yellow walls and lots of table. The wait staff is efficient and no frills. You come into the restaurant, a server will point you to a table, promptly hand you menus and bring you water, they will then return to take your order, someone will bring your order out generally in less than 10 minutes along with the check. They will not check in on you again or generally ask if your food is good or if you are enjoying your meal. This is not a problem at all though. If you require anything additional just flag someone down and they will promptly bring you what you need. The food is delicious and always right. When you are done you pay at the counter. It is definitely a no frills kind of place that serves delicious food and they do it very efficiently...
Read moreOrdered 2 bowls of "bun bo hue" and asked if there is every toppings a traditional bowl of Bun bo hue has. I got an answer from the hostress who picked up my phone and told me that they have but only come in with a "special" pricing. Each order cost $17.xx, which came out nothing "special" with few slices of meat, 1 piece of pork blood jello, 1 thin piece of pork chunk. Doesn't look like anything different than any other restaurant. Portion is normal, not to say it little rather small than other place for the price of $17.xx. Also ordered extra garnishing veggies was charged for $2, and GUESS WHAT? THEY SPLITTED the veggies into 2 SMALLER PLASTIC BAGS and call that an extra. Supposedly those two small bags were included with 2 orders of Bun bo hue, when they normally combined them together into 1 bigger bag if i wasn't going to order extra. Conclusion : OVERPRICED, Cheating out their own customers, food quality is ok. So far has not yet found a good Bun bo hue place!
Edited: after owner respond, you dont call it cheating then what is? I ordered extra veggies because my girlfriend likes the bean sprout and other stuffs. Forgot to mention about fish ball, i ordered bun bo hue, not a bowl of seafood/beef noodle soup, and nowhere on Earth they sell bun bo hue with fish ball, making it as authentic and original as it should be. Not only you substituted the toppings for cheaper frozen fish ball which was only 1 that cut in half, if it not cheating then what shall i call it? The garnishing veggies bag was only bean sprouts and thai basil, considered the grated banana flower was too expensive to put in there, than at least do something right and really give the extra veggies that i paid for. It wasn't like i...
Read moreOverpriced. Tiny portions. Subpar taste. Bad experience.
First off, I paid $29 for TWO THINGS, a soup dish and a pair of fried egg rolls (more on that later..) The portions and taste were not worth the price at all! The dishes were very tiny and very greasy compared to other vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to. To top it off, it took us over an hour to simply pay and get out of there.
We had a larger party dining in, however, we knew something was up when we were trying to pay at the front then were told to pay at the table. The server started ringing one of us up until management called him to talk to him and this happened two to three times. It turns out they overcharged us for an extra pho we did not order, and then charged us a 20% gratuity fee. They wanted to maximize the tip and wouldn’t let me pay for multiple dishes on one bill. I had to pay two separate transactions along with the 20% on each after arguing to try and pay them together on one bill. I eventually gave up because my party was bored and tired since it had been an hour since we finished eating and just wanted to leave! But my total came out to be $50 just for two phos and egg rolls. Ridiculous. WASTE OF...
