I am new at publishing Google reviews, but I have been journaling and tracking places that I've been to for 3 years, and would like to write my first review here:
I have been to many bakeries/cafes throughout the DMV area, and Tous Les Jours in Annandale not only surpasses the others by a mile, but it sets a whole new standard for food and customer service.
It is clear that the manager(s) here are aware of customer needs, as they introduce new pastries or drinks almost every month; the variety of pastries, cakes, and breads here make even adult customers feel like a kid in a candy store. Of course there may be some skepticism about increasing the diversity of goods at the expense of quality, and I am here to inform everyone that this is not the case. Each item that I've had (and let me tell you, I've eaten almost everything here) satisfies a certain taste craving or fulfills a void in my stomach, as well as expose me to a new flavor profile that cannot be found in other bakeries. People with the pickiest of palates, those wanting to try something new, and everyone else in between will definitely find something that they like. You truly cannot go wrong with this place.
On top of that, the cleanliness and customer service are absolute top notch. I am a morning-goer, an every time I visit, I see workers tirelessly clean our trays and tongs, sweep the floors, and wipe the tables. Even the windows are spick and span! It makes the entire ambiance look welcoming and you do not question the integrity of the store's values. Each cashier that I've interacted with starts off with a warm greet and always makes sure if I need anything else, and that I am satisfied with my visit. When I dine in the store, they offer to heat up my food, and when I take my stuff to-go, they carefully package each item individually. Not even restaurants achieve customer service to this caliber- I genuinely feel like I am valued and not just another form of profit.
I also noticed that a lot of the customers are regulars, and that the employees seem actually happy to work here, which is an added bonus.
Tous Les Jours is to cafes as Chick-fil-A is to fast food. Elegant, delicious, and welcoming.

Read moreI've been to this location over 20 times since they have opened because the pastries and bread are delicious. The location is convenient, and the parking is free.
I do not recommend visiting during busy hours. The service takes a nosedive: counters are sticky, the "clean" tongs and trays are noticeably dirty, and the cashier will haphazardly toss your items into a bag. Personally, I find all of that forgivable since their baked goods are really good.
Whenever I've visited this location alone, I've noticed the Korean cashiers would glare at me and only talk to me by announcing my total due. Honestly thought this was a quirk of the business and didn't mind.
However, I have noticed an alarming trend when I visit this location with my Korean friends. The Korean cashiers/workers will kindly greet and professionally take care of my Korean friends (Hi how are you, is there anything else you need, please insert your card). Then, when it is my turn, they will actually glare at me and only say my total. The change was definitely noticeable, and my Korean friends explained it may be because I'm Southeast asian.
I have continued to frequent the business regardless and recently they have hired more non Korean cashiers/workers and they are much...
Read moreI've had such an odd experience yesterday at this place. I probably will be going back to Shilla bakery! I wanted a cake so I went in to order. I was charged extra for pastries I didn't order. Then charged for a cake tasting slice I was told was to be on the house. When I went back to get it corrected these kids wanted to who served me etcetera and I'm like what's going on. Very poor customer service! I was given multiple different answers as to why they didn't have cakes available and then was told to come in around noon to make sure that there would be cakes available. As their supplying warehouse burned down and they weren't taking any orders. Like recommend another place across the street which serves the same things! Or better yet stop making up things and giving out dumb answers. Just say you don't know! And don't offer free slices for cake tasting and saying it's on the house after you've charged me! Like I was going to pay for it anyways which I did! And then the manager Alex offered me a free slice next time I come in and went back on the offer! I'm officially done with this...
