Was hoping to enjoy this place, left disappointed.
We were sat in the bar and promised "the same great service" - this was incorrect, and we ended up spending more than 2 hours at a BBQ place, and not by choice. We literally felt trapped because our food was taking forever to come out. I had to flag someone for assistance twice just to get things handled.
This happened to be during the Nor'easter we had, and they were quick to blame the power outages. We were there when they happened: the lights flickered, systems rebooted immediately, and that was that. Mind you, we'd already been there for 40-50 minutes when that had happened, so our food was long ordered.
In the end, we had good appetizers, good deserts (very good for both, frankly), and...mediocre BBQ? My brisket was decent, but my friend's was a totally different affair; a bit dry and unremarkable. The pulled pork was average. The beans tasted out of a can. Coleslaw was decent and tasted fresh. Wife's shrimp and grits seemed solid. Overall, an "average" entree course.
The disconnect, however, was the service. I can only offer this advice: don't let yourself be seated in the bar area if you want to be out in a decent amount of time.
Music was as old as the crowd seemed to be; even in our mid 30's, we felt very young there.
Beer selection on draft is weak, but in the bottle seemed halfway decent.
Strong winds that day regardless, smoking laws seemed ignored. Smokers openly stood right outside of the door to the property. Frankly, I dont care if it's windy or cold for you to smoke: go away, you are disgusting.
There was a silver lining to this story, I suppose. Management was very apologetic about our experience, and gave us a full refund on the check. Frankly, I didn't ask for that. We'd have taken free drinks; the experience simply wasnt THAT bad. But, I will give it to them: they made it "right." Yes, we tipped, because we aren't terrible people.
That being said, that's why this place get's a 3 - it's average. If management didn't bother to comp anything on our bill, I'd have given this a 2 or even a 1, as it was one of our worst dining experiences ever. We might stop in another time if we happen to be in the local area, but it's difficult to stomach possibly paying more money to give this place a...
Read moreLet me start by saying the 2 stars is me being very nice. I was out with my sons youth group and we had been doing community service in a nearby park in the community. The kids were hungry and so we decided to go get lunch. We had never been here before we all like bbq and it was only 5 mins away. We asked to be seated together and tables were put together for us we take out seats. Our waiter Andrew F was the down fall. He was very rude and condescending the whole time we were there as if we committed some kind of crime by coming into this restaurant and sitting together. He says to us we are going to get busy and this is going to make it very difficult. I am sorry we still would have used the same number of tables together or not. Ummm just want to point out the same six tables that were empty when we enter were still empty when we left. It never got busy but yet we seem to wait very long time to get refills to be asked if we needed anything. He forgot to put in one of the children's dishes so we had to wait. One of the kids asked for no tomatoes and his bowl was loaded with tomatoes so he just pick the tomatoes out. When he took his dish he made a comment about the tomatoes and the child said very nicely, I asked for no tomatoes so I just picked them out and his response to the child was well if you would have said something I could have taken it back. Well if he had came over to the table more often we might have been able to say something. Then we asked to have the checks separate and the face he made almost made me flip out. There is no reason to make a face when the customer asks for something. I understand it's a pain to separate checks but it can be done. Unless I missed the policy were a party cannot have tables together the way we were treated was uncalled for. My family will not be going back here. The food was pretty good and that's the only reason why I...
Read moreThis place was an unexpected hidden gem! My significant other and I dined here and were surprised at how much we wound up enjoying our selves. The outdoor seating was available, however, due to the sun’s position, we were not able to enjoy that view. We went inside where the bartenders greeted us with warm welcomes and invited us to sit wherever we liked. We instantly were greeted by the server MEGAN, and she got us drinks right away. I don’t know whose phone the music was hooked up to, but when I tell you that we were in full concert mode, it added to the atmosphere! GOLD STAR FOR THE DJ!!! We ordered the fried pickles for an appetizer, and they were actually pretty tasty. My wife seems to believe that there could have been a tad bit more seasoning on the pickles themselves, but overall, I’d give them a 8/10. We got the smokehouse sampler as an entree, and I have mixed feelings about it. The brisket, smoked sausage, and ribs were my selection for a main course, and I got Brussels sprouts with Mac and cheese for my sides. She got mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese for her sides with ribs, brisket and pulled pork as her mains. The brisket was delicious! Smokey, tender, and juicy. My Brussel sprouts were so good that I didn’t even get to share them. She liked her mashed potatoes as well. We just gotta do something bout that Mac and cheese yall. This dining experience was really good and we would definitely come back and recommend it to others as well.
And please management, keep those bartenders AND the assistant Annabelle around, for they were great at making us feel welcomed and...
