Burnt food, poor customer service, and a high bill is what we received the 4 times we gave this restaurant a try. The first time was the day we moved in. My chicken parmesan was noticeably burnt and the pasta cold. My son's spaghetti with meat sauce was also cold. We live less than a mile from the place and my son placed the order fo go while he waited. I called to let them know and received a rude response from the man on the phone who made it clear they had no intention to do anything about it. It was take out and just before closing so I thought to give them another try and I ate in this time. After placing my order and buying a glass of wine, all done at the counter, I was dismissed with the advice to sit where I wanted. There were no napkins or silverware on the table so I assumed they were brought out with the food. The food came and I asked for silverware. The guys behind the counter stared without saying a word. Finally, another patron showed them to me in a bin on a table in the dining area. Note that a few of their regulars came and were warmly greeted and food brought out with much fanfare. They ate as if this was the best food ever eaten. I was envious. Though my pasta was warm, it was a bit overcooked for my taste and the chicken parmesan was again burnt. I showed to a young lady who was clearing a table and she advised that I not eat it. I then talked to the guy who waited on me behind the counter. He said there was nothing he could do as I accepted the meal at my table. I explained I did not see the meat was burned until I looked underneath and had to taste the spaghetti to know it was overcooked. He offered no recourse. I left the uneaten meal on the table. My son bought pizza there twice afterwards which be said was good so I rated this place two stars instead of one. It obviously has a loyal following, though I dont get it. I did write about my Sammy's experience previously and the owner or their representative replied with telling me how long they have been in business and much everyone else likes their food. They seemed to have no concern that they lost a customer who lives in the neighborhood and enjoys eating out. I have not been back and have no plans to do so. Given the loyalty of their customers you would think the food and service phenomenal. This was just not my experience and when asked, I tell...
Read moreI live in a neighborhood very close to Sammy’s & have noticed on a regular basis that if you order in person vs ordering on the phone, your outcome is vastly different. The pizza ordered & delivered in-house is tasty, with great sauce and is usually exactly what was ordered. If ordering over the phone, you never know what you’ll get & that’s why I checked my pizza before leaving.
I ordered a medium Capricosa pizza with fresh basil and garlic instead of red peppers. When I picked up the pizza, there was a minor sprinkling of basil on 2 slices & no fresh garlic whatsoever. I asked the owner of the restaurant to provide more basil & fresh garlic…he gave me a small sprinkling of dried basil & squirted something from a plastic squeeze bottle that he said was fresh garlic, IT WASNT.
The cost of $27.55 for a medium size pizza with 6 slices was a shock & the pizza was so bland and tasteless that I won’t be going back again.
I questioned the owner on the cost of a medium pizza @ $27.55 & he said that was normal. It was a vegetarian pizza, not one covered with different kinds of meat that would jack up the cost. I felt ripped off & incredibly disappointed by a neighborhood restaurant that can provide what’s advertised on their menu, yet doesn’t follow through....
Read moreZero stars wouldn't do this restaurant justice.Absolutely horrendous experience. I am out visiting MD with my mother and we decided to try a local place. The visit started out fine, we ordered a couple of pasta dishes and wine. The pasta tasted great -- one bite, two bite, three bite -- hair. I was appalled that I found a long black hair in my food (mind you I have blonde hair). I brought it to the waiter's attention and he refunded the pasta. I decided to stay and finish my glass of wine only to discover not one, but TWO flies in my wine. Again, appalled. I took my glass with the flies up to the counter and they immediately got defensive and started to insinuate that it was MY fault. The owner, Sammy, was one of the rudest and ignorant men I have ever encountered. He told me I "like to complain" and it couldn't have been his staff because they don't have long hair, meanwhile there was a woman WITH long black UNNETTED hair standing behind him working in the kitchen. If you are looking for great food and experience -- stay far, far away from this place....
