The Cake Shop — Restaurant in Apple Valley

I will never use this place again and do not know why they have 4 stars. They were very rude and the girl that was taking my order act as if she wanted to hurry up, put her pen down and go back to the back. I ordered my daughters 7th birthday cake from them, especially when I wanted to go to Walmart but something bad happened to me that never should and I had many to support me and told me I should do her a special cake from this place to make her birthday happy. So u did. I gave them a image of the lipstick from shopkins and told them I wanted the Bavarian Cream as the filling. I picked the cake up on her birthday which is Christmas eve and the image I wanted was not on the cake, and the filling was not what I wanted. It was frosting. If it wasn't for my brothers eating the cake, it will all be sitting in the fridge. I will never recommend this place to anyone again. And a very professional friend of mine was treated very poorly when she walked in to order her cake and they treated her like she was nothing and even said to her, "oh you don't 2ant to order from her, can you even afford to by our cakes?" Yeah....in don't understand what's with the rudeness....the ones that actually had good service, lucky for you. And I'm calling and calling these people to ask why I paid so much for something I didn't ask for....someone picked up after 50 calls, no lie, and then hung the phone...

Update: What is happening?!? Do you not like servicing POC? I go in, wait patiently while only 1 person is serving. As soon as the older lady comes out I assume she will help, but she looks towards me & assists the other employee. They're chatting up a customer, being nice to him. Once the line is backing up she comes back & asks who's next. Looking completely past me, & to the woman in the back of the store. That woman was just as shocked as I was & said " uhh...that would be her!" Then as the lady was giving me my items she refused 2 look at me. I was literally behind the glass, she saw me the 1st time. Was it my tattoos? My skin color? My pink hair? What is wrong with you? I was hoping my last visit was a fluke, apparently not. I hope another bakery opens as Apple Valley continues expanding. Maybe I'll be more welcomed there.

Previous review: Echoing another review, I didn't appreciate the girl who took our order. She was very condescending & said "Is this something you think you can afford?" I don't know what she was implying, or what about our appearance gave her the right to judge a customer period, but she needs to be replaced immediately. I've had pretty positive experiences here up to this point, but a business who backs this attitude needs reform. Also, quality has changed as frosting & fillings...

This shop has delicious pastries, however not the best customer service. My father and I found this little gem yesterday morning (09/28/17) When we walked in, the girl in the front was very sweet. She offered us a complimentary puff pastry (Normally $1) to help us decide what we would like. I accepted mine, but my dad was not in the mood for it at that time so he passed. We ended up spending $6 on Coconut Macaroons that day. From then we decided that this wpuld be our new morning stop... we even told family and friends. This morning (09/29/17) we got up and came into The Cake Shop to try a few more items. Our total today was $15. Before paying my dad asked the "sweet" girl in the front if he could try his free puff pastry that is passed on the day before. She proceeded to laugh and say no and if she were to give him the free sample now then they would all have to be free and she can't do that. A little put off because we were not really sure what ahe was getting at, we paid and left. Due to the sour taste that left in our mouths, we will be continuing our search for a good pastry shop for our morning...
