Royal Spice Nepalese and Indian Restaurant - A Hidden Gem in Baltimore
Nestled in an unassuming shopping center, Royal Spice Nepalese & Indian Restaurant & Bar delivers an unforgettable dining experience that celebrates authentic Indian and Nepalese cuisine. From the moment you step in, the vibrant wall art reflecting Indian culture sets the tone for a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
The service is impeccable, with the staff displaying remarkable knowledge of the menu and offering excellent recommendations. Their kindness and attentiveness made my visit even more delightful.
The Culinary Journey
Starters: The meal began with a unique Indian in-house chip dish, featuring crispy chips mixed with grains of rice and accompanied by three distinct sauces: a green herb-based sauce, a savory vegetable-based sauce, and a sweet and spicy chutney. Each sauce was a flavor explosion, authentic and perfectly balanced.
For the appetizer, I chose the Vegetable Samosa, a classic executed to perfection. The light, flaky pastry was filled with a harmonious blend of seasoned potatoes, peas, and aromatic herbs. The accompanying homemade sauces elevated the dish, making it impossible not to smile with every bite.
Drinks: Their Manhattan cocktail, infused with an in-house twist, was a standout. The creative blend of flavors was sophisticated yet approachable, making it the perfect complement to the meal.
Main Course: The highlight of the evening was the Lamb Tikka Masala. Tender, marinated boneless lamb pieces were cooked in a tandoor and enveloped in a rich, tomato-based gravy infused with Indian spices. Each bite was a masterclass in flavor, showcasing the chef's skill and respect for traditional techniques.
The dish paired beautifully with Garlic Naan, which arrived fresh from the tandoor. This naan was unlike any other – soft, buttery, and perfectly seasoned with spiced garlic butter. It was so good, I found myself savoring every last piece.
The Plain Basmati Rice was a smart choice to accompany the lamb, as its fluffy texture and subtle flavor allowed the dish's complexity to shine.

Read moreWhere do I start… This place really lived up to its reviews. The wife and I were in town for the weekend for business and decided to try Royal Spice. Let me say they did not disappoint. First food that came out was the Papadum and I could eat them all day. The texture was amazing not too hard and not too soft just right. We also ordered the tandoori wings for the appetizer. When I tell you there was flavor in every bite. I would never lie to you lol. Oh did I mention I only like drums and my wife likes flats. I didn’t even mention that to the host and they still made it an even mix. The attention to details..wow. For the entrée my wife ordered the butter chicken, I ordered the lamb chops Masala, and our bread of choice was the Garlic Naan. The lamb was perfectly cooked, the rice was made to perfection, not overcooked or uncooked, just right. I’m not a bread person but the garlic naan, I couldn’t get enough. I’m so full I wrote this long review cause I cannot get up and go to my car yet. As far as ambiance this place is very welcoming and they definitely have the confidence you’re going to love their restaurant and more importantly their food. Best Indian food...
Read moreWhere do I start!?!?! As soon as you walk in your smell buds (lol) kick in to over drive, curry, butter, garlic, i felt like I could even smell the basmati rice! We ordered the chicken mo mo (dumplings) they were amazing, almost like the best meatball you have ever had stuffed inside a dumpling, and dont forget to dip it in the mo mo sauce!!!! A tomato based sauce that could rival any Italian restaurants.... next up was the chicken masla and the butter chicken. Hands down the best chicken masala I have ever had! Not even close to any place i have had. We ordered the chicken nann and the cheese nann and those weree two pieces of goodness all by themselves! My intentions were to dip it in the chicken masala but nope, they were soooo good by themselves! To finish we had the gaja ka hawia(carrot pudding) if your a fan of pumkin pie and or carrot cake, this will be your new best friend. Service was excellent and the ambiance was a perfect setting for dinner. They have a buffet on Tuesdays-Friday from 11:30-2pm. Not sure when I will be back to Baltimore but guarantee this will be our go to spot from here on! Dont keep looking for somewhere to eat, just go here to...
