This family-owned local gem has been popping up in my feed a lot lately so we finally made it in for a dinner. Highlights were the garlic bread and gnocchi, and their pink sauce is to die for! Service was very friendly but the vibes inside were a little strange - I’d definitely come back but would opt for take out. For our dinner we both got the pasta sampler which comes with a half order of their lasagna and two other types of pasta of your choice. Hubby opted for the gnocchi and angel hair and I opted for the ravoli (half meat and half cheese). The server recommended their pink sauce and it was absolutely fantastic! It’s a mix of their Alfredo and marinara so if you love pink sauce, theirs is a must for sure. We started with side Caesar salads and they were pretty decent with an ample portion. We also got an order of garlic bread and ommggg it was some of the best garlic bread I’ve ever had - highly recommend. You’ll need it to soak up the more than generous amount of sauce they give you lol! Lots of garlicky butter with a crispy outside and soft inside. Excellent with their flawless pink sauce. Unfortunately I didn’t care for their lasagna at all. It had a strange aftertaste and the meat almost tasted burnt. I wouldn’t get it again. But their ravioli and gnocchi were both fantastic. Great flavors and the texture of the gnocchi was lovely - might have been the best gnocchi I ever had and I would definitely get this again. We finished our meal with their Spumoni dessert and it was also delicious. Where other Italian restaurants serve it as a bowl of ice cream, Alex’s serve it as a decorative slice of ice cream cake and it’s so nice! Would also get this again. We almost thought they were closed at first when we walked in - it was late afternoon on a weekday and the restaurant was very dark with a divey, seedy feel to it. And it was completely silent except for banter and music coming from the kitchen - even though there were several other parties dining in. Maybe it’s more lively during dinner rush hours? Felt very weird sitting in our dark little corner lol. Despite the weird vibe, staff were helpful and friendly and we felt very welcome by them. Prices are pretty fair for the area - I’d say mid range. And the portions are massive so it’s a good deal. They’re located in a small strip mall with plenty of parking.

This was my best Italian restaurant since last year but today, I’m not impressed. The service was good as usual and very attentive. However, the problem is with the food. The first picture was the best moment of the food we had there. It was creamy and the season is on point. The second and third picture is for our “last” time here. The sauce is a mess, so oily and overly season. We asked the server that is this the usual one and she say yes when it cold it, the oil or butter will separate and it will become like this. So, I’m not argue with her anymore since she say it is usual but for me it’s not. Sadly to lose our favorite spot but we will not be there anymore.

Really bummed to write this review. I used to eat at Alex Di Peppe’s back when they had their original location off El Monte. I finally made a return visit after ten years, and the whole experience is just off. The pizza is mostly the same as most neighborhood pizza spots, save for the whole roasted garlic which isn’t as scorched as they used to make it. On top of that, service was abysmal. I know it’s still run by the original owners, but the magic is gone.

Craving for some spaghetti marinara, lucky for me I came across Alex Di Peppe's. It's one of those place that you miss because it doesn't stick out. Well, to my surprise this place has been here for quite some time now and I can't believe I've never been. They are just right across Carmine's which sadly close down. Busy for a small joint. I noticed that they have a lot of regulars. One of them actually talked to me and gave me some tips on what to order. The staff is very friendly and courteous. When I ordered my food they made sure to follow up on me about how long my order was going to take. I ordered the spaghetti marinara and meat balls with a side of salad and garlic bread; it's a bit salty for my taste, but the whole thing tasted great. You can order it full or half. We also tried the spaghetti with garlic and olive oil. If you like salty stuff then you're going to need some salt on the side for this. For me it was perfect. Lastly, we also tried the individual size of Hawaiian pizza. Just the right size if you're sharing and the flavors are just on the spot. The marinara sauce along with the ham and pineapple. Mmmmmmmm! Yummy. If you look around you will see the history of this establishment. It's great to know that a place like this still exist and I like how they are active within the community. I definitely insist you try it out if you're ever...

We had the pasta sampler, Alex's pizza, and a deluxe salad, with side order of sausage and meatball.

Good: the pizza was very good. Medium was a decent size to share with 2-3 people, nice amount of toppings, good taste. The dough was perfect in the right amount of flavor, density, chew, but yet a crisp at the bottom and edges. Pasta sampler was 1/2 lasagna with two pastas, we chose angel hair with meat sauce and meatballs ravioli with pink sauce. Pastas we're good, lasagna was the best. The sampler was a good size for one person to, enough to share with another but not enough for family style.

Meh: deluxe salad was really just rabbit food. It was okay, just lettuce, olives, mozzarella, nothing fancy. Garlic bread was not good. We're gonna just have bread with butter next time.

Sausage was okay, can use a hint more salt but it was decent. Meatball okay too, texture was very fine, great for feeding young kids though.

Service was great, definitely a place we will come regularly to for...
