My family Came in and seated ourselves, the waitress didn’t even mention her name.. not a big deal but kind of rude. She asked us what we’d like to drink and took off. The table next to us sat down after us and she asked the same to them and served them their drinks before ours even though we sat down first, and all we asked for was water all around. After taking their order first she asked us for ours. My brother orders the pot pie dinner with clam chowder and the waitress asks me. I asked for a salad with thousand island dressing with my pot pie dinner with an extra pie. She says alright and hurries off. Shortly she comes back with 2. Clam chowders while we were talking and takes off again. I thought it was odd but I assumed she brought and an extra for my girlfriend since we were splitting. She served the table next to us and then ours and I ask where my salad was at. This is where I’m shocked. Because it’s as if she totally forgot I asked for a salad with thousand island and green beans specifically with it. She acts like she didn’t know what I asked for and seemed as if she was gonna say sorry but then sped walked off. The table next to us was served their dessert and the check while we sat and tried to flag down our waitress for the dessert and check. 20 minutes literally of sitting and waiting she comes by and we told her we want the pie to go. She doesn’t even thank us or anything after dropping the check and pie into our table. Terrible waitress I wish I had her name. We head up to the register to pay and we all split the check between us 3. My brother hands the man cash, and waits in the back. My girlfriend hands him her card and he hands it back to her but when I hand him my card he kinda tosses it back to me on the table with the receipt to sign. I’m thoroughly didsapointed in the customer service. 3/10 on service but the food even though my appetizer was mixed up and not even comped or replaced at most is 9/10. Good home food, all American comfort. This review may seem over done to you but this is exact to the experience and I wanted to share it openly with you all so you know what you’re in for. But the hostess was very kind. To the waitress, enjoy...
Read moreFirst off, let me state that I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience. The two strongest points about this place are the extremely friendly service and the comforting time capsule feel of the place. That being said, I found the star of my meal, the chicken pot pie, to be nothing truly remarkable. Before I go any further, I don't like posting reviews that are not super positive unless I actually had a miserable experience, which I didn't. Would I return to this place? Yes, absolutely! Would I drive all the way up from Long Beach to go here, probably not, unless I was meeting a like-minded person who enjoys time capsule dining as much as I do. You get a lot of food for your money! The side salad, which comes with green bean salad on top of it was actually quite tasty, though might be off-putting to some. The dinner rolls were soft, delicious and melted in my mouth. I would probably try the chicken pot pie again, just perhaps with the gravy on the side. The mashed potatoes are what really made me sad. I don't usually get snobbish about food, and I grew up with instant mashed potatoes, but these were really not enjoyable. Maybe it was just an off day for that batch of potatoes? I still ate them as I dislike food waste, but I would definitely avoid them next time. My dinner even came with a choice of dessert. I picked the rice pudding, which was excellent and my favorite part of the meal by far! If I'm in the area again I'd love to try this place out for breakfast. You can truly tell it is beloved by locals, and for good reason! My only other piece of advice for the owners would be to change out the light bulbs for something a little warmer. The cool white light bulbs they have in the majority of the fixtures really clash with the vintage 70s vibes, especially the ones over the counter! This place has been going strong for 49 years. (Since 1975) I hope they keep going for another...
Read moreMoffett’s has been around for as long as I can remember and the quality has never changed.
The chicken pot pies is what they are known for and I can’t emphasize enough how delicious these things are, you will just have to stop by and try them for yourself. What I love about the pies is they have options, they offer white meat or dark meat, and they also offer them cooked and ready to enjoy or refrigerated and ready to cook at home. If you get them to cook at home they come with detailed instructions so you can’t mess it up. If you’re like me detailed instructions are a must lol
I’ve also had some of the other items on the menu and one of my favs is the avocado burger, it’s so juicy and big (how I like it). The french fries are always cooked perfect, not too crispy but not to soft… and I love me some good french fries.
Moffett’s is not modern or up to date but that’s what makes Moffett’s such a cool place, It has this old diner feel. The countertops are low with seats facing the cooking/serving area that have chairs that turn from side to side giving you the diner feel. The staff is always friendly and ready to serve, they are very accommodating.
Location: In plaza next to Aldi and CVS off Baldwin and Naomi. Parking is extremely easy since the plaza has a huge parking lot.
If you’re ever in the area, stop by and pick up some warm chicken pot pies or some cold ones and heat them at...
