I had breakfast with a friend and her son... When we arrived, there were two ppl seated ... There were only two tables available because the others were all dirty, with dishes on them, so we chose one where we all could sit down. We were greeted by the bus boy, who also gave us our menus and let us know our waitress would be out shortly. As we sat patiently, another couple arrived and took the only other clean table in the restaurant. When our waitress came from the back, she walked right past us and took the order s of the couple that arrived after us. After turning their order in to the cook, she approached our table and my friend asked for a coffee, but was not heard because our waitress, although standing at our table, was talking to other guests. So, our orders were taken, turned in, and she returned with our drinks... 2 coffees and 2 waters ($4.00).... Then brought cream to the table. Finally our order arrived and all looked great, except my friend had ordered hash browns, well done with cheese and instead rec"d a bowl of home fries sprinkled with shredded cheese. I examined the ticket and the waitress had written hf well done with cheese. I approached her with the ticket in hand and told her she had made a mistake... She changed the hf to hb and turned in our ticket to the kitchen. Just as I was taking my last bite of french toast, my friends hb arrived... With cheese but barely cooked. She asked for a to go box and we sat patiently waiting for our ticket. A few minutes went by and we asked for our ticket..... Our food came to $29 and some change.... So it cost us $30 to wait for our waitress, wait for the correct food item, wait for our ticket, and to never be offered a refill on our coffee. All in all, I feel Wheelers is the worst place to have breakfast in Arcadia..... Food was great, place was dirty, service...
Read moreI give this place 6 out of 5 stars. =) This is one of my favorite places in Arcadia to eat. When you walk in to Wheeler’s, it’s not just about food, although the food is good, but more spiritually, it’s the atmosphere. It’s the idea that you’re sitting in a place where five generations of families have sat and eat and gossiped and dreamed. They talked about farming. They talked about the railroad. They talked about medicine. They talked about Edison and Ford. Young and old, black and white, rich and poor, first generation Americans, and families whose family’s fought in the revolution. They have all sat hear and been fed. So when you come in, don’t be in a hurry. Sit down and relax and absorb the history and bring a friend. Talk about good times. Talk about old times. Tell good stories. I have to be honest with you, I’m a sucker for those cat head biscuits and peanut butter pies and those little jars of grape jelly. Matt, you’re doing a great job. Keep up the good...
Read moreWheeler's Cafe has been around all of my life, it has always been the best food in the world for good down home cooking. My last visit there, under the new ownership, was the worst experience I've ever had, so bad that it brought tears to my eyes to see the downfall in the grade of food, the menu and the wait staff. I asked about the new owners and was told that they were out and about and that they did not come in too often, maybe they should come in and see what's going on or change what's going on, or maybe they just don't care that they are tearing a fine institution apart. This was the worst experience I've ever had with...
