We had read how good this place was, and were still surprised it was even better than that. It's owned and run by locals, unassuming spot with small tables and a bar. Frequent flyers came in, greeted everyone, grabbed a beer and left. Really comfortable atmosphere, nothing fancy but not the usual casual place like most in PR. Greeted at the door by Kimberlee who also waited on us. Friendly and smiling the entire time, made excellent suggestions. Tulum cocktail was perfect, refreshing mezcal and lime with a nice kick from the tajin rim. For the minors, order the fresh parcha juice. My son has been drinking parcha all week and this was the freshest tasting drink he's had in 6 days. Buffalo bites were amazing. Perfectly breaded chicken was light and fluffy and the slaw it was served on was delicious. Bacon wrapped dates were just sweet enough and perfectly caramelized. This is a dish we make at home but honestly, not this well. The fish tacos (2) had a huge piece of white fish that was cooked to perfection. Other ingredients were an excellent compliment to the fish. Even the tortilla was just soft and crispy enough to make me wonder how they do that. We also shared an off the menu bacon cheeseburger that was perfectly cooked with piping hot, home made french frĂes sprinkled with just enough salt that we couldnt stop eating them. The only negative was that our stomachs just couldnt hold any more food. Highly recommend La Jolla. Kimberlee was awesome, as was the bartender. We started with a red cabbage and apple soup, AMAZING! which was beautifully plated and bursting with flavor, the bacon dates to another level. We ordered the chicken roulade with the risotto of the season, and the new york steak with potato pave, truly delicious!
