Rude service, the girl obviously hates her job. No gloves when handling the food or money. They expected me to take my changee from a dirty deli style hot dog plate, that seems the limit of their covid protocol. The ice cream (pistachio almond) had too many huge chunks of ice in it from all the times it had been defrosted and refrozen. You can see into the rear of the business and it looks like someone’s house with dirty clothes strewn around. Ended up throwing out my ice cream in their overflowing garbage bin. Will never return. 6/26/22 edit: I feel compelled to respond to your reply to my review over a year later. There was a dirty deli style plastic hot dog tray where the customers change and receipt was deposited to prevent hand contact. Kinda gross. I never removed my mask. Unlike your server i was polite and simply shared my experience here. I am surprised u have the ability to go back a year on your cameras, and your ability to recognize me from my profile pic since its a random pic from google. Especially since i NEVER take off my mask since it was mandated. Shame shame shame. We all suffered from hurricane Maria, but there is no need to use that as a cover for the negligent lack of sanitation and general lack of upkeep. I have been going to Rex Cream in Arecibo my entire life every time I visit PR for over 40 years. Unfortunately, the quality and service has significantly declined. I visited with my family while on vacation from mainland US. I prefer local mom and pop business rather than the corporate mall experience. While I understand that there are systemic issues with the corrupt PR local government and remnants of Hurricane Maria and COVID, that is no excuse for low quality ice cream and lackluster service. I am a proponent of local small business and hope to see Rex maintain and expand it’s customer base. Please hire better employees and enhance your quality standards as they were in the past. I had a negative experience here and I told myself I wouldn't never spend money here Again. . .

But somehow I ran into the owner/Management later that day. . .

The owner was such an amazing person, that I can't wait to come back. She assured me that she watched the interaction on the cameras and apologized.

I was blown away at the level of accountability and amazing follow-through.

Just overall impressed with the level if leadership of this company. ..

It's evident why they've been here so long. . .
