Subway — Restaurant in Arlington

Today is Monday July 15th,2024 around 1:30 p.m. I met the owner of this location about a year and a half ago. Her location is always clean and employees have stellar customer service. That's why I continue to come here. Today was different. There were 3 employees in the back and a young man was having his break when I came in. He immediately jumped up went to wash his hands gloved himself , welcomed me and proceeded to assist me with my order. I ordered the new rolls curious about those at such a good price. We discussed how he had to make it and shared a laugh. While making it another employee blue hair face piercings comes out puts on gloves and starts telling him how to make it faster. He's obviously new so he's going to be a lil slower but he was moving just fine. But she did not clean her hands first. Something in me just couldn't eat that after she touched it without washing. So I said ma'am I'm so sorry but I didn't see you wash your hands before you started fixing my sandwich. She says oh I washed them in the back before I came out. I stated but I didn't see you. She rolled her eyes and walked away. The young man paused asked me if I wanted him to start over. During this time someone else an older lady long partial gray hair peeks out to look at me then another customer comes into the store. The young lady with blue hair comes out again without washing her hands. Gloves them fixes his order checks him out before me then walks away. Once the young man is done with my order cookies, drink chips etc. He asks if they rung me up. I stated they usually do but didn't today. Cause you know he's new. So he finished the order with grade A customer service including checking me out. Poor thing was shaking. I told him it's ok to take his time it's totally ok. The young lady with blue hair behavior and cleanliness was outrageous being that I didn't ask her to do anything that the health dept doesn't require of food workers by law. I know people need chances. I'm a Christian and I try not to complain especially on those who are humble. But this needed to be known. This is quoted from the federal health and food worker laws.

"Even proper glove usage does not eliminate the need for proper hand hygiene. Specifically, food workers should wash their hands before putting on gloves and after they take them off. If you put a germy hand in a glove, all you'll do is spread the germs around." I only mentioned appearances so the owner would know. I'm not biased nor judgemental of others...

I luv the subway melt. Service was friendly, but VERY slow. I cant tell if it is under staffed or badly managed. But still the food was ok. The place was clean. Note on the $6 deal (see picture) if u are a detailed minded person then you will notice that the $6 deal for most of the 12" subs is actually more expensive than if you ordered regular. I pointed this out to the girl behind the counter and was given a blank stare and an explanation that she doesn't make the prices. Sigh.... On my next visit I talk to the manager and she says that the price of the regular meals varies throughout the country and the deals are set by corporate. So the deal might actually be a deal somewhere else, but not here. She said that they charge the customer the cheaper price. I am willing to believe her, but this shows a disconnect between corporate and the store. Anyhoo...that is just a pet peeve with me. She was friendly enough about it, but its just a shame they have to advertise a "deal" that looks like they are ripping off people who don't know how to...

I went in to try a one of the new wraps that they offer and was very excited about this! I ask for the tomato basil wrap but they said they could only make the signature wraps so I asked for the turkey one but to please not add avocado or bacon, instead I wanted to get green peppers (she put two on), lettuce, pickles (the lady barking orders said only put two on!!! To the lady actually making the sandwich) and spinach. The two lady’s working couldn’t seem to understand this and said they couldn’t do this. I was extremely clear with my ordering instructions but they looked in horror when I was trying to make it with other items. Usually when I go to a subway I’m able to build my own sandwich, I was only doing this but with a wrap. I was in shock of the way I was being treated so I said I’m sorry but I’m ok and walked out. This isn’t the type of customer service that I expect when I go...
