Texas Jack’s Barbecue — Restaurant in Arlington

On December 26, I ordered two burritos, one with fries, one with salad, and an eggroll from Texas Jack through the Toast app. Familiar with their service, I anticipated a satisfying meal for myself and my family, who were eagerly awaiting their lunch. However, upon opening the food, our excitement turned to dismay as I discovered a sizable piece of plastic protruding from one of the burritos.

Apprehension set in as I considered the implications for our health, especially for my kids. I promptly called the store and spoke with Brenda, a manager whose condescending and passive tone left much to be desired. Despite explaining the severity of finding plastic in our food, Brenda dismissed the issue with an aggressive stance, offering only a potential refund for one burrito. The lack of empathy and refusal to acknowledge the broader risk to our meal’s quality and safety left me deeply unsatisfied.

In a state of disbelief, I called back after uncovering more plastic in the remaining half of the burrito. Nani, another manager, stepped in and demonstrated the leadership qualities I expected. She efficiently addressed the issue, requesting and promptly reviewing the photos and videos I provided as evidence. Nani’s swift response, within 8 to 10 minutes, offered a glimmer of hope in an otherwise distressing situation.

This incident raises serious concerns about Texas Jack’s processes and quality control. As a customer, I believe immediate refunds should be the default response to such incidents, coupled with a genuine effort to understand the gravity of their oversight. My trust in Texas Jack has been irreparably damaged, not just due to the plastic in my food, but more so because of the dismissive attitude during conflict resolution.

We have driven past Texas Jack's for a couple of years but have never stopped in. A co-worker of mine said their brisket was fantastic so we decided to give it a try. He was not wrong. I like any barbecued meat but my wife's favorite is the brisket so if it passed her test I knew we were onto something. The brisket was tender and flavorful. It had a nice char on the ends. The only downside that I could see was that I wasn't given enough of it. I also had the sausage. It was good but not remarkable. I would order it again just for something different. Both of us tried something new for a side, Esquites. It's roasted corn with a street corn base and scallions. I'm not exactly sure what that means but boy was it good. I don't do street corn because it's normally on the cob and I just hate getting it stuck between my teeth but this was not on the cob. I'm assuming the flavor I could not identify is from the street corn. I think it's going to become a new favorite side dish. My wife had the brussel sprouts which were nicely roasted and included some brisket and shredded parmesan cheese on top. I had the Mac and Four Cheeses which was nice and creamy and a good blend of the four cheeses. The size of the restaurant doesn't look big from the outside but they have a good size dining room and bar area and even a small party room with a small bar in the back. Unfortunately the parking lot is nowhere near big enough for the number of customers they can serve but they do offer free valet parking and there is two hour parking right there in the neighborhood just a short walk away. The only negative that I can see is that the tables seem to be fairly low. I'm not terribly tall, almost six feet, but it seemed the tables were almost right on top of my legs when seated. The tables are very nice and look to be made out of a nice hardwood, not something you would buy at IKEA. They were just low. When I see my coworker Monday I will definitely thank him for the recommendation and we will definitely be back. I think next time I might try the chicken...
