I like Rocky Run Park. I think it's a great to exercise the athleticism of older kids, and to provide them a more of challenging obstacle course than your standard playground.
The big kid playground primarily consists of a ropes course and the fort at the top with a big slide attached. they have a couple of swing that would accommodate multiple children, but again, not your standard slang. This is the swing where they would lay on it and other kids would push them.
As far as the smaller children's playground for ages 5 and under, it has more simplistic features with baby swings and musical structures for them to play with, a sand box, and little cars with springs for them to rock back and worth on.
The money definitely went more towards the bigger kids playground, then the little kids playground. Nonetheless, they'll have just as good of a time.
There is a soccer turf field, basleyball court, and bathrooms on site too....
Read moreIf you have older kids this is a great park! However, the playground area for 2-5 year olds is a bit lacking. As with most of the newer parks in Arlington these days they have an awesome large slide thatâs impossible or too difficult for little kids to reach and use. My kids end up upset that they canât use it and itâs just really frustrating as a parent. Itâs possible to make the fun slides available to all, because there are a few parks that do, but this set up is just frustrating. To get to the top you have to climb two stories of netting. The rest of the park is nice - itâs shaded, has a covered picnic area, two basketball courts, one of which can be set up for volleyball. Thereâs a nice turf area and plenty of paved area that is good for young bikers. Despite the pros of this park we wonât be coming much because my kids just want to use the slide...
Read moreLived here all my life for 18+ years. I'm a youngster, but still a Google Guide. This place has undergone enormous change over the last decade. Someone who has been gone that long would be clueless of where they are if the neighborhood buildings weren't still standing. I won't lie, I prefer the old Rocky Run Park, many of the poorer Section 8 housing people live here, and nobody cared about them. Then when a new park is constructed after they demolished the original school basketball and soccer teams would kick locals off the court or field because they have "permission" to reserve the area from the county for 3-4 hours. What has the world gone too. Didn't expect to read this much in a 5 star review...
