A really good total body workout (for strengthening and toning muscles and improving flexibility...not a cardio workout though)...it might take a couple of classes to get the hang of things (routines move along quickly!) but for those newbies, keep going! It gets better! :) My favorite instructors are Olivia Barrett and Kelly George...both are patient, friendly, and great at explaining the moves, creating different routines (so it's not the same routine every time) and checking and correcting students' postures and movements ...a few areas that could be improved: 1) the room can get a little tight when the class is full (wish the rooms were bigger or that classes were smaller)...2) a couple of other teachers I tried spoke too fast or didn't go over the moves (and didn't go around the room so much to check on students)...during those classes a lot of us kept looking around the room in confusion...so maybe training for teachers could be improved...3) I used a Groupon deal...which was great! But classes can be pricey (at least for me) so to continue with the series I may try to get another...
Read moreI have been taking classes for many years at PB Arlington. The team is (and I cannot stress this enough) the BEST in the business. They are caring, helpful, kind, knowledgeable, and, overall, just amazing. The instructors are more than willing to explain and/or show you anything that you might have questions about, including moves performed during class, modifications, a song that was played, or anything else that might come to your mind regarding form or barre in general. Each class is tough and effective and focuses on form over reps, which is of the utmost importance. PB Arlington has taught me to embrace the shake (that's where the change happens), to love and appreciate my body for what it's capable of, and, most importantly, that "This is YOUR house, YOU own this!!". I highly recommend taking a Foundations Class (it's free!), which will give you the information you'll need prior to taking your first...
Read moreI am by no means a Pure Barre super fan. I have taken classes from 20+ different instructors in 8 different studios across the country and they've been all over the map. Some studios are more about the lifestyle than the workout. Some instructors are basically working out alongside you and yelling out "motivational" messages like "This is where the change happens!" - basically an in-person workout tape. If I'm going to be paying $20 for a class I need it to be 20 times better than the workout I would do at home, and Claire Bosworth's class definitely meets that standard. She programs the work well to target specific muscle groups in ways that are challenging but not boring. She really understands form and spends the class explaining exactly what you need to be thinking about and making small corrections on your body. Her knowledge takes the workout from good to great. It is a good use of...
