Hubby & I have been going to Francisco's for breakfast on and off for 25+ yrs on El Camino in AG.-LOVED the old location ! NOT so with this new location. Smaller, less tables it seams like with a very cold feeling all around, not at all a "Country Kitchen" Old Location was a real home town diner, great homey feeling with an attentive wait staff and the food was what you would expect from a diner, Great. Not so with this new location. I get it, they are getting up and running. Sorry, just lost a customer - Went recently this past weekend for French Toast. DON'T Bother ordering French Toast.... New location - may have changed the menu as well as the atmosphere?? ( Thin Sliced White sandwich bread - seriously for French Toast ?? ) Not even toasted enough to resemble French Toast. And Whipped Margarine. Really, NO Whipped Butter?? I should have sent it back and ordered the pancakes. After pushing my plate to the end of the table, it was obvious I was not going to eat what I ordered. You'd would think after the waiter who stopped at our table multiple times to ask if we wanted more coffee - would have noticed my plate and me not eating. Sorry she never even acknowledged my plate, asked how our meal was or if I wanted to take that home. Ticket and go was the attitude. Sure we paid and tipped, but we will not be going back. If I had my phone with me I would have taken an picture of my sorry looking...
Read moreSo nice to sit down INSIDE a restaurant again! Things are different, but no big deal. My waitress, Candy, was excellent. I could tell, beneath her mask, she was smiling all the time. So helpful and just attentive enough. She gave great service and I wish I could have tipped with a $100 bill. For breakfast I normally stay away from "skillets" or "scrambles" finding them a mess unsuitable for a dog's breakfast. But today, with Candy's encouragement, I ordered their Potato Skillet. Potatoes, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, ham (or bacon or sausage), and cheese served in a skillet. I added two eggs and a biscuit with gravy on the side. (Yes, I was hungry). So good. Generous portion, steaming hot, good balance of each ingredient. As picky as I am about eggs, these were cooked perfectly. The only downer was the biscuit. Still not the light, fluffy, mouthwatering biscuit I'm searching for. This one was OK, but reminded me of the Bisquick recipe. Gravy was spot on. Flavorful and not too greasy or floury. Parking is easy in their new location at the shopping center on Grand Avenue. Open 6am to 830pm. Serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with specials changing daily. Also a...
Read moreMy husband and I ate here for the first time on a Sunday. The service was good but it was the worst food we have ever had. We both got the country friend steak which was chewy, rubbery, and had been microwaved way to long. The gravy had a weird taste and was also fake tasting. The eggs which we got over easy were still under cooked with the egg whites still slimy. His biscuit was dry, hard and also tasted microwaved. My blueberry muffin was the same way. I was hoping the homemade apple sauce would be the only edible thing, but there were pieces of plastic in it! Actual seranwrap plastic that I picked out of it. The taste was very bland and it was not edible with the chunky skins in it even if there wasn’t plastic in there. We wanted to like this place but will not be giving it another chance....maybe they have other better tasting dishes? The only good thing is they had eco friendly to-go containers that we saw, and they didn’t use plastics disposable cups for the side sauces. We appreciate any place that chooses environmental friendly options! Please start cooking real food and is not rubbery...
