Really disappointed to write this because I’ve always loved this bakery. I was excited to order cupcakes for my birthday and couldn’t wait to get them from here. But I placed an order for GF cupcakes over the phone two weeks before my birthday, giving them plenty of notice. I started by asking for a dozen and wanted multiple flavors but was told they didn’t do that so asked if I could get six of one flavor and six of another and was told that would be fine. Great! But then four days before my birthday I get a call saying they don’t do that actually they all have to be the same flavor and which flavor do I want? I’m kind of surprised because it seemed really, I don’t know, brazenly unprofessional to tell a customer they’re not going to do your order after first telling them you would, so I ask to think about it and call back. And I couldn’t place an order with another bakery because they only let me know four days in advance, so that’s not fair to another place anyway, it’s not enough time for them. So I call Sweat Pea back and ask for the girl who I was talking to but she had left. I was then told they’d text her telling her I had called and she’d call me. Well she never did and then they’re closed Sunday and Monday. Tuesday, my birthday, I get a call accusing me of not confirming my order but offering leftovers of someone else’s order who just happened to order the same flavors as me. So my question is: if someone else had placed the SAME order as me, why didn’t you just make my order at the same time? Secondly, how are you honestly just not going to make a customers order when they gave you plenty of advance notice? And then not be considerate enough to give them enough notice that you can’t do their order? I’m just amazed at how it all turned out, and the lack of communication both within their team and also with me. So if you need GF cupcakes and want to be assured you’ll actually get them, I’d recommend...
Read moreKelli and the team at Sweet Pea Bakery knocked it out of the park for our recent wedding in Cayucos. We'd been going to Sweet Pea for a cupcake here and there, then we went back for an informal cake tasting. Instead of tasking slices of cakes we got cupcakes that sealed the deal! We talked with Kelli later on the phone - we found that calling was the best way to contact Sweet Pea. We then ordered 6 individual 8 inch cakes and and one 6 inch sweetheart cake for an extremely reasonable price - that amount was more than enough to feed our small wedding! We had so much fun with the various cake and frosting flavors, and our foodie guests from the east coast raved about all of the cakes - especially the coconut cake! We got raspberry champagne, strawberry vanilla, German chocolate, salted caramel chocolate, triple lemon, coconut and blackberry vanilla. All were excellent but our favorites were the coconut and strawberry vanilla cake. The salted caramel gets third in our book. Kelli was fantastic about adding a little bit of a color twist in the interior layers of the cakes - she does great reds, pinks, oranges and yellows. Fun stuff! So think about Sweet Pea for your wedding or major events - they'll do a...
Read moreWow wow wow is all I can say, well not really but this place is the greatest guess at finding a bakery out of town and in my wife's birthday. We tried an assortment of their various many cupcakes along with the greatest thing ever made in the creation of all things baked goods being there everything roll, I wish I can show so many amazing pictures of that but that would probably take an x-ray because the thing was eating so quickly and I could not get enough of it, but unfortunately they only had one left. This bakery can do no wrong in my book, along with having some of the greatest customers I have ever had the opportunity to meet, one customer was kind enough to give her high praise about the biscotti and after trying it it is truly amazing and I wonder if there ever is any hot beverage worthy to be dipped by it. Hear me loud and clear if you live near sweet peas you are one lucky person, we have traveled the world and are hard pressed to find a better bakery. I am so happy we stumbled across this crown jewel of all things baked and brewed. This is place is a can't miss, and to the staff this is the radio voice guy. Pictures will be...
