First of the golf courses. The RTJ 2 course is a great track. Some beautiful holes out here. Also has one of the tougher finishes. 18 is a brute. The Norman course just doesn't do it for me anymore. Flat and in the low lying area of the property so the conditions can be dicey at times. Fun the first coupe of times but after a while most of the holes start looking like each other. It has either OB or hazards on either side of narrow fairways. They also narrow in where your drive goes on the majority of the par 4s. Very tough if you aren't hitting the ball well off the tee. Around the greens are bunkers or some Pete Dye like shaved areas.
I'm sure this place is great if you stay here or are a member, but they don't treat tournament rounds very well. On this particular day, the greens on the RTJ 2 course were perfect and I was excited to play there. But there was a "scheduling mishap," so we were switched to the Norman course last minute. First off, I almost dropped out because I'm not a fan on the Norman course. What was truly disappointing was they just aerated and sanded the greens days before, and they did the tee boxes the week before. Greens were terrible. Not sure why Lansdowne would schedule 100 or so golfers on a course that looks like that. Fairways were also bad in spots but that's acceptable considering the weather we've had this year. Only fairway that was in terrible shape (crabgrass) was the par 5 on the far end of the course. Let's just say it wasn't worth the entry fee or the drive.
I've been here a bunch of times and the customer service is very visible but not always very welcoming. It just gets worse every year. The pro shop is very well stocked but overpriced. The range is great but it's a struggle to find golf balls to hit. They have three putting greens, just don't use the one right next to the upper level of the range. It's a great property and I want to like it as I used to. But it's not a place I'd go out of my way to...

This review is long overdue, but better late than never! I had the pleasure of spending July 4th weekend at Lansdowne with my family, and it was an experience I’ll never forget. If you’re considering it, do a stay and play — trust me, you won’t regret it.
I was determined to play well, and both courses, the Greg Norman and Robert Trent Jones, did not disappoint. Each course has its own character and challenge, making it impossible to pick a favorite. Honestly, I could play these courses every day and never get bored!
The staff? Top-notch. From check-in to the pro shop, everyone made me feel like I was right at home. Speaking of the pro shop — it’s probably the best-stocked shop for women’s golf apparel that I’ve come across in my travels. Seriously, I was impressed by the variety and quality of the merchandise.
While playing, I chatted with a few members who almost convinced me to join — and I live three hours away! 😂 That says a lot about the sense of community here.
The resort and golf club will definitely be part of my summer plans moving forward. The practice facilities (driving range and putting greens) are well-kept and easily accessible, making it a great place to fine-tune your game.
After my round, I grabbed dinner at Piedmont’s, conveniently located in the same building as the clubhouse. The food was delicious — a perfect way to end a great day on the course.
If you’re looking for a golf destination that offers amazing courses, a welcoming atmosphere, and excellent amenities, look no further than Lansdowne....
Read moreLansdowne is pushed off a main road, you'd never know it was there. It's a very large facility (hotel and conferences I believe). I had stayed for a weekend a while back and had a great time but decided recently to just go to enjoy their spa. I've had the same massage therapist twice and he is amazing. The spa doesn't have too many amenities but if you're looking for something more than a Massage Envy (that's not for me) this is your spot, they have a quiet room, sauna, steam room, and whirl pool. The showers and changing area are very clean and private and they have bags of dries lavender for you to take home. The employees have always been very pleasant as well. I will say this last time though the coffee/tea station was not set up and the snacks were a bit lack luster (my prior visit everything was full and maintained). Last time I was also offered sparkling wine and I was not this time which I would have gladly enjoyed aa this was an early birthday treat to myself. The resort itself is great, there are a few pools to enjoy, a large gym, and they provide other activities depending on the time of year. I'd stay again and I will also continue to visit the spa as an...
