We stopped here on our drive home from a hike. It was so cute- an old diner turned into a Mexican restaurant.

First try don’t tell you this but you get your own salsa at the salsa bar. Which brings me to my issue with this place. The food was good. The service was the worst service I have EVER had. My wife and I and our two kids came and were sat. We sat there for a long time while no one came up to our table. They kept looking at us and walking past us. Meanwhile the server assigned to us waited on every table around us. People that came in after us got drinks and orders and no one even acknowledged us. I finally flagged her down and ordered drinks and asked for chips. We sat there for a long time without getting drinks, I had to ask if they had salsa which then they pointed to a salsa bar. And this pretty much is how the entire time went. Our waitress never came to our table. She never brought us stuff. Ask for things when she was at our table she was rude. We watched her and she wa nice and a good server to everyone else. Just not us. I can only assume that this is because we were a same sex family because there is literally NO other reason for her to act like that and not acknowledge us. When we had our food there was a gnat in my rice. I finally got her to come to the table and I showed her and she said that’s not a bug. And so I put it on my napkin and showed her. She snatched the plate from me and walked off. Never said sorry, never offered another plate just walked off. She was the rudest and most unfriendly server I have had when she was actually at our table. It was pretty embarrassing because my kids noticed and pointed it and asked why.

We won’t be back...

EW EW EW. The lack of cleanliness is unacceptable. Got seated next to a big round table FULL of dirty dishes, with 5 flies crawling around the dishes. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, maybe the table just got up, flies are hard to prevent, etc etc. However I saw a waitress remove dirty dishes from a table next to it, and PUT THOSE DIRTY DISHES WITH THE FLY COVERED PILE OF DIRTY DISHES ON THE ROUND TABLE. Was sitting for 10 minutes, without being seen, 5 different waitresses walked past us and the fly table, didn’t take our drink order OR clear the filthy table! Flies are hard to prevent, but my god if you cleaned the tables you’d have a better shot at keeping the place fly free. Never got drinks, never got chips, when I had two flies crawl on my legs that was it. Got up and left. If I could give zero stars I would. I’m sure the food is delicious based off these reviews but CLEAN YOUR TABLES! They were pretty busy so I’ll give them some benefit of the doubt, but they were no where near “too busy” to clean off a table in the 10-15 minutes I was sat there. Find a different restaurant and...

Every time I come here and it's not packed, I'm grateful but confused. Let's run it down:

FAST service, from cheerful people, with bean dip and chips (much better than the terrible salsa you get most places)

EXCELLENT food, and a lot of it. Every time I come here I bring half of it home, because they load you up.

INEXPENSIVE too. I always order a drink because I feel guilty getting that much food for that low a price.

It's extremely cute inside, with a 50s diner atmosphere. Beautiful covered patio, that is comfortable all summer with heaters in the winter.

The one MINOR note is is does often smell of fabuloso...but what good Mexican restaurant doesn't?

Food, service, atmosphere, portions, salsa bar, incredible prices. What the heck is wrong with you people? This place should be packed all the time. Do you like paying way more for worse food...

Was visiting Asheville and since I love Mexican food I thought I'd try this place out. It's like an old school diner/dive so it looks a little rough when you walk up. There's a small salsa bar just to the left when you walk in. I tried a couple and neither was very spicy but they tasted fine. They bring out complimentary chips and beans. I ordered the spicy cheese enchiladas which I was expecting a spicy red sauce but it was more of a mild, creamy green sauce which was a little different. It had a little spice to it but not as hot as I like. It all tasted fine but think I'd prefer a different type of sauce. All in all it was ok however, not certain I'd return.

Came into a 50s style dinner atmosphere. Easy ordering and there is a salsa bar to choose your own. When we ordered we asked if we could mot get beans but just extra guacamole. We got the food pretty fast. But there was no pico on the quasadilla and there were beans on the nachos. At the end the charged me 4.20 for a little thing of guacamole and there was a service charge of 3.20 if I didn't pay with cash. I spoke with one of them and he took off the charge for the guacamole but said next time he wouldn't. All together I'd eat there again. But I feel the server should have told us.

We stopped in at Nachos & Beer in Asheville on the first night of our trip, and Karen made the whole experience unforgettable. We came in about 30 minutes before closing, absolutely starving, and she and the team welcomed us so kindly. She never made us feel rushed, and instead made sure we had drinks and the most incredible food packed up to go. We left happy, full, and so grateful—even though it was just past closing. We can’t wait to come back and sit down to enjoy it properly next time!
