Was travelling through Ashland City and was hungry so I did a search and The Cajun River Bistro looked promising. When I arrived Britt got me a table and something to drink while I looked over the menu. There’s a decent selection standard Cajun appetizers, meals, and sandwiches and I decided to try their Tour of NOLA. This consisted of a small bowl of Gumbo Ya Ya (chicken and andouille sausage), The Gulf (shrimp & crabmeat), and Queen of Rice (red beans & rice with andouille sausage). All three were quite good, a nice bit of kick, but each of them were very flavorful and not overpowered by heat. My favorite was The Gulf…nice spice and loved the seafood flavors. Enjoyed the Red Beans and Rice built on a solid roux, great flavors, and tender beans. This is a nice way to sample a number of dishes and the meal was filling.
They have only been open 10 days, but the food and service shined and everyone took great care of me. I met the owners Lynn Cathey & Sammy Naquin…great folks and they are excited about their new business. I’ll be back the next time I’m passing through…the Muffuletta...
Read moreHonestly, I would have left some photos or videos however, I’ve cleaned my plate! The food was on point! I’m not a food critic because I like all types of food and appreciate the variation of flavors due to different people’s fixings! My husband and I walked in and sat down! That is important to us not to wait when we’re hungry. This restaurant offers, bottled drinks and real catfish, not swai … two very distinct different white fish, that are not the same. I ordered the gumbo Yaya, grilled chicken and andouille sausage to share AND the chuckle head platter, filled with yum goodness!!! my husband ordered the Nola, muffaletta, and was unable to eat at all-It was so big and he enjoyed every bite!! we finished with hurricane Katrina, six fried beignets topped with powdered sugar.
We plan to go home and go to bed now, as we will sleep well!
Thank you to Cajun River Bistro for the...
Read moreWe had a great experience at Cajun River Bistro. Stopped in for an early lunch, had incredible service and a welcoming atmosphere. We wanted to try several items so opted for the gumbo yaya, the gulf gumbo, shrimp po boy and a catfish po boy. All were good but the catfish stood out in the best way. Perfectly fried and the seasoning was phenomenal! For sides we shared mac and cheese, cajun fries, and potato salad. Beignets were a great way to end the meal. Everything was seasoned well, super yummy, and tasted just like some of the best cajun food i've had in Louisiana. We'll be back and highly recommend to anyone wanting a nice cajun meal with...
