Neighborly Bar — Restaurant in Ashland

Definitely the place to be in Ashland, but not really a spot to look forward to for others. It's got everyone, all ages, lots of camo. No beer on tap I was remotely interested in, and no indication of bottles. Loud, several TVs, some games. A dance floor with no one dancing. Fine bathrooms. It was totally packed and less dead than other bars in town. Beer was cheap, at least, and you could go by with friends if you find yourself in town...

“we are a CASH ONLY bar” the pretty (but disinterested) lady tells me AFTER I finish my beer. Look, I get that it advantages YOU to accept cash only, and I hate government too, but WHO CARRIES CASH ANYMORE? You have a mediocre bar (at best), the absolute LEAST you could do is warn patrons at every entrance, signage at eye level EVERYWHERE, heck even make your staff wear CASH ONLY t-shirts. Never...

Stopped in with a friend on our way to a nearby wedding which we were running too early for. The place was very busy, in the middle of a benefit.

Despite the place being packed and a lot of people crowded around the bar, the bartender served us quickly and was very friendly. We paid the same for our two beers that I would expect to pay for one in Duluth.
