I had the gift of being treated here by a friend and I have to say that this was an absolute treat. I was looking for good, high-quality sushi and I can say without a doubt that this place has this and more. I will try and remember everything I ate as I did not take pictures sadly. We had the takoyaki, tempura mix (shrimp and veggies), miso soup, eel roll, rainbow roll, and three specials consisting of: bluefin oro, salmon skin roll, and I believe it was a bluefin tenderloin. my friend ordered two kinds of rolls for himself but I cannot remember those nor did I try them. I have to say that I loved every bit of it. The miso soup tasted authentic and the best I have had out here and really in general. The bluefin oro special they had that day was my favorite of everything. The meat melted in your mouth and burst with so much flavor. The nice part is that after eating all these dishes, I did not feel sick like I normally do with sushi. It is prepared very well and you can tell right away. You leave feeling full and not feeling sick or with an upset stomach. It really stands out as an authentic and delicious place to get sushi. Additionally, upon walking in the owners greeted us and welcomed us in. The woman serving us checked in on us and was very kind and humorous. The chef greeted us and chatted with us as well. Both are kind and friendly people. The atmosphere was welcoming inside and inviting on the outside. There is not too much seating to be sure to either get there early or do what we did and make a reservation. I had a wonderful experience here and will definitely come back when I visit...
Read moreTruly, a hidden gem in the central California coastal area. Tucked away in the quaint El Paseo shops area just off Traffic Way. A rare find and worth the drive between SF and LA along the 101. An excellent selection of fresh sashimi and sushi dishes, a bit of kushi-katsu, and a variety of salads. The miso-shiru soup it tasty. Several varieties of draft beer on tap, bottle beer, as well as seasonal sake selections, and of course chu-hai's. Sodas and Ramune for the tee-totalers. The decor is a unique blend of old fishing gear, fantasy steam-punk furnishings, and displays of Japanese knick-knacks, all in a tiny three-table arrangement. This is not a run of the mill Japanese restaurant (as there are many within the vicinity). This is definitely a place for sushi and sashimi aficionados who enjoy high-end, quality foods in a...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious. We went there for the first time yesterday for dinner, all sanitation protocols are respected and there are several sanitizer dispenser for you to use. It's all about take out during the pandemic. The food was very satisfying and delicious, there was even enough food for small leftovers. The miso soup was really good and delicate.
The fish is very fresh, comes from local sources and the restaurant has weekly specials. I appreciated that they prepared exactly what I asked for. The prices are fair.
The chef is Japanese and so is his family working with him. It was a pleasure to meet them and we will be back every time we'll come to Atascadero. We discovered them through the SLO food...
