Pizza Express — Restaurant in Atascadero

Update to the update: I am assuming the manager wrote this since that was who my girlfriend talked to on the phone. I’d like to correct you on the following points:

1. Just because you have had the same supplier of a product for 20 yrs doesn’t mean that they didn’t have a bad run / batch. Product recalls happen all the time for this reason. Also you or a member of your staff - or even an employee at the production company - could have mishandled the product, let it go out of date, improperly cooked them, or simply forgotten to wash their hands.
2. We were very clear with you on the phone that the only food we had eaten in the last 5 hours had been from your kitchen. We have also ordered wings almost every time we’ve ordered from you and have never had this problem either. THESE THINGS CAN HAPPEN.
3. I, the boyfriend, the one who made this particular review, am currently very sick; I just didn’t get admitted to the hospital. As for why, my girlfriend has a medical condition that left her more susceptible to food poisoning. That’s why she needed close to $2,500.00 in Emergency Room treatment.
4. If you are going to make a sad half attempt at an apology to try and cover for your frankly rude and disrespectful phone call, at least do yourself the favor of listening to all of it, and getting your facts straight.
5. Also, if you are going to “reply” to two different reviews with the same exact response, please at least check to make sure you are talking to the same person. I am the boyfriend. You replied with the exact same message to my girlfriend’s review on Yelp. Not only does that look lazy, but rather inept as well. Perhaps if you took more time to pay attention to the small details you wouldn’t have people getting sick at your establishment.

Writing this review from Sierra Vista emergency room. My girlfriend was admitted with severe food poisoning and I’m not in much better shape. Don’t eat the chicken wings. May be cheap but the hospital bill won’t be. One star because I can’t give zero.

Update: girlfriend spoke to the manager. He got ahold of us to say he'd called the other customers that got wings last night and THEY didn't have an issue so he cant imagine it was his food that made us sick - mostly because no one else said anything and the wings come “pre-cooked”. When she asked him if had just called to argue he said "No, but..." and kept on. When she asked if it was SIMPLY IMPOSSIBLE that just ONE of his batches of wings or pizza toppings could have been bad, he just said "I don't know. Sorry, but I don't think it was the food." She and I both still feel so horrid after being at SVRMC for SEVEN HOURS THIS MORNING that she simply ended the call after he was unable to be more compassionate. Bad form, sir. More angry now than before we spoke, and still out a day of work for both of us, +$2k in hospital bills AND the cost of dinner last night. That was a...

New owners, bad pizza!

So this Pizza Express is now under new ownership. They've changed the crust and the sources of their toppings. The pizza has gone from the best in Atascadero to the worst. The simple pepperoni pizzas here were so good and now they are bordering on kind of gross (and that's not meant to be hyperbole). Plus, they are phasing out the $10.99 4 topping large!

My family and I have become accustom to ordering pizza here at least twice a week. I don't think we'll ever go back now. I guess all good things must come to an end and we probably shouldn't eat so much pizza anyways.

Hey, new owners, what happened? Did the last owner take their recipes and topping sources with them? Did you have to start from scratch? Or are you changing everything to boost profits? Cheaper toppings and lower quality pizza in the name of money?

So sad my pizza nights will never be the same again. I guess I'll have to start going to Fatte's, which is good, but a little too typical when it comes...

Ok long story short my mom ordered 3 pizzas wings and cheese bread from this place. There was a girl who had colored hair it was short and she helped my mom with her over the phone order I wish I got her name because she was so disrespectful reason was I went in to pick up my mom's order since she don't drive right. We'll as I was patiently waiting because she was down staff and she was doing everything do that wasn't my problem, my problem was that this girl didn't know I was my mom's daughter and she was talking about my mom to someone else in there and i over heard it and I told her she needs to be more professional because you never know if it's a secret shopper or someone's family or friends listening to you. So I was very upset about it I will not be eating there again. She make sure they tell you they charge for everything on your pizza cause that's what they did to my mom 85 dollars for 3 pizzas small and wings and cheese sticks nah...
