This was my first and last time eating here. TL:DR THREE separate employees were rude to me and the food was mid
I walked in and was looking around for my friends who were already seated, or a waiter to ask where they were. Turns out you order and pay upfront before picking your own seat, which no one told me.
I ordered, then noticed there were stairs and walked up to see if my party was up there. As I stepped up, the lady who took my order said "If you order down here, you have to eat down here." It would have been nice if she had told me BEFORE I ordered, but whatever.
I told her I would check if my party was upstairs then come back down. As I got to the top of the stairs, another worker stopped me and said "if you ordered downstairs you can't eat up here." I explained to her that I was looking for my friends, and she let me go. I rounded the corner and found my group of 7 waiting, and asked the waitress at the patio if I could bring my food upstairs and eat, given I bring my dishes back downstairs once I was finished. She begrudgingly agreed.
I grabbed my food and headed back upstairs. The burger was dry, and part of it was cold. The cheese balls and fries were good. I had to leave the dinner early, so as I got up with my plates and cup in hand, a different waitress saw me and asked if I wanted her to check me out at the register upstairs. I explained my situation, and her attitude immediately switched. "Just so you know, it really screws up the servers when you do that" she quipped. I did NOT know, since this was my first time there and no one said anything until AFTER I had already placed my order. Alas, I apologized and went back downstairs to return my dishes.
The lack of quality in the food and the servers here is not worth...
Read moreWell tonight was interesting. The food is always good and was good tonight. The service tonight however was something extra special. After we received our food I noticed on my wife's burger some spots on her bun that looked like it could be mold. We weren't sure so showed to the runner that brought the food for some other people we were eating with. He looked at said he couldn't tell but it was probably something from the glove. I assume the glove is what was being worn by those that prepare the food. He seemed content leaving the burger as is. I told him we wanted another one. He responded as though he was agitated in having to replace the bun but took the food. When he returned he dropped the plate on the table, said nothing, and left. My wife at this point was afraid to eat the food not knowing what may have done to it after the attitude and simply gave it back it. Nothing more was said. As we were leaving he was outside smoking in the back and my son overheard him complaining about dealing with us. I won't bore you with the details but we did confront him for how he acted. He threatened to call the police. He told us he was busy so I guess too busy to deal with the issue.
The reality is we weren't mad and all we wanted was a new bun. Regardless of what the spots may have been we just wanted new bun. He was a jerk and one that I would fire on the spot if he worked In...
Read moreWere at it again. Ive heard about the Grindhouse in Athens since I moved here almost 6 years ago. It's a Stalpe of Athens as well as a Georgia Bulldogs hangout! Today we crossed it off the "to do list" & officially now put it on the "to do AGAIN" list. I've had a lot of burgers in my 64 years, but the Grindhouse is on a whole different level! Wifey ordered the impossible burger with Onion Rings. She said it was very delicious & promptly held up 5 fingers. Which = 5/5 she had an apple Cider beer! I ordered the Yankee Burger (double) with extras. Apple Bacon mushrooms avacado slices & red onions leafy greens lettuce. This was definitely a montage of flavors landing on my taste buds 😋. I went in so hard, that the table across the room, commented as they left, "The way you ate the sandwich with singular tunnel vision made us wish we had ordered that hamburger as well" They were correct, I only stopped to lick the blue cheese off my fingers (sorry about my manners, but it was just that good) or to wipe whatever juice was running down my beard. I definitely give this yankee burger a 5/5 & the crinkle fries were crunchy with just the right amount of salt. My Drink, was a John Daly, Bourbon based with lemonade/sweet Tea & a splash of Pinapple Grindhouse You have been...
