Normal Bar — Restaurant in Athens-Clarke County Unified Government

Do I really need to go into more detail than $1 boiled peanuts and $3 fancy beers? Well, I suppose I better since there's so much to love about this place.

Situated within walking distance of a lot of local neighborhoods, Normalbar is tucked away next to Ike and Jane in Normaltown, Athens. This dimly lit venue is a haven for local residents who dread the gameday nonsense that comes with living in a football town and the cop-traps all along prince built to revenue collect off of the ample DUIs exiting downtown. By contrast, there's always a place to park since everybody walks here, the servers are amazing (shout out to Sarah!) and you don't even need to pay attention to the drink specials since everything is so reasonably priced. Plenty of bar games inside and out, and they're dog friendly if you like those sorts of things.

My only complaint is they could use a couple more lights in there. Gets kind of creepy...

We came here because Automatic Pizza didn’t have enough seating and they deliver to Normal Bar, which is so convenient. We had 7 people around 7:45 on a Friday night. Normal Bar was already packed, but we got lucky that a table opened up right when we got there.

The non-draft beer is cheap. Athens has pretty cheap drinks in general, but Normal Bar is even cheap for Athens. Good beer, like Tropicalia, will run you $5. I got the Killer Bee cocktail ($8) and it was delicious.

They have darts and a TV. The vibe is very chill, with people just hanging out and enjoying a good drink.

I love this bar. I go at least once a week because it’s a great way to get away from the students of Athens Georgia. We are a college town but this place is a refuge from Partying college students and offers mature adults to share in mature conversations. Their selection of alcohol and beer is a lot.
