Waffle House — Restaurant in Athens-Clarke County Unified Government

The service here was disgustingly horrid! The lady missing her front teeth that night/morning was unnecessarily rude. I called from the parking lot (due to the amount of occupied tables), and she answered and asked what I’d like to order. When I told her the meat lover’s chicken and eggs breakfast, she apologized and had me repeat myself as she proceeded to hang up while I was still in mid-sentence. So I walked inside to place my order; but before I could even get all of the way through the door, she was hurriedly saying she was sorry and that the grill was down. Basically, she didn’t want to take any orders; Granted, the cook WAS cleaning his grill and let me know it would only be a few more minutes. I looked at the cashier lady and asked, “Is that why you hung up on me just now? And then refused to answer my second call directly after? I was calling from the parking lot; I saw you through the window the entire time; from the first call to now.” All she could do was stand there looking goofy with her mouth wide open and absolutely nothing to say to me while the cook was laughing at her. Don’t think I will be referring this location to anyone any time soon, let alone go back...

Okay now. Hear me out here. This waffle house and the server as well as the cook were both phenomenal.

For 4 am, I was the only one dining in, but 2 others also came by for carry-out.

I judge a restaurant by 2 criteria. How the service and food is during non peak hours (i.e. 3:30 or 4 pm, as well as the overnight service.

I myself worked overnights at Crunch Fitness for almost a year. And, I know how difficult it can be always coming for the overnight, and keeping an upbeat, energetic, and happy demeanor through the whole night every night for almost a year.

Things can get draining over tíme constantly doing the overnight. Also, during non peak hours, I have witnessed several establishments that have offered sub-par service due to either their shift almost ending and they decide to start slacking towards the end or other similar situations.

This waffle house off of Milledge street passed with flying colors for their excellent service, great tasting food, and the all around pleasant conversation with the waitress.

HORRIBLE WAFFLE HOUSE! I have never had this kind of experience in a waffle house before. I'm so disappointed! I'm so sorry if anyone gets offended, but this is the whole true. This is a "white" only restaurant. The matter fact is that one black cooker doesn't count. Because all the servers and clients are white! That's not the problem. The problem is we are Hispanics, brown colored. They discriminated against us badly! They ignored us! They oversee we waiting for 1.5 hrs for a table, and they keep seating white people and ignoring us. Until I stand up and demand a table, they give us one. I thought at that moment everything would change, but heck not! They took our order and brought it 30 minutes later, they keep skipping us! They served a few tables of white people they just arrived. Matthew is the worst! He just gave us the look and ignored us. Our food came cold. The coffee was only colored water. I left a tip because I'm not like them. Will NEVER return to that location.
