I visited this place to see the bears, which is one of the more popular animals to visit. This place is family friendly, as it is pretty small and well maintained. The guides are pretty interactive with children, and have great knowledge on what they talk about. Don’t expect to see many types of bears, as far as I saw, there was only one type, the black bears. The two things I was dissatisfied about was the bathroom near the entrance. There needs to be more maintenance in them. The second, issue is that the keepers need to pay a little more attention to the animals’ enclosures. Some, like the otter’s had lots of garbage in its little water pond. I saw this when I visited in the Bears birthday. Other than that, the overall experience was very pleasant. Friendly faces, lots to see and I would definitely make a second trip...

This is my favorite park in the area. It’s in a neighborhood and has quite a bit of wooded area for a city park. There’s a zoo nearby for animals that can’t be released into the wild. There’s a pool and basketball court. Lots of turtles reside in the lake. It’s a bonus when you spot the Great Blue Heron. The walk around the walk is less than a 1000 steps. The playground is nice and clean. They have restrooms nearby. There are quite a few pavilions that you can rent out for parties and birthdays. This is family friendly park. The dog park is nice but I had to leave the last couple of times because of problematic dogs. I’m so glad this is available right in the middle...

Every Athenian is required (by law) to visit the Athens Zoo aka Memorial Park at least one time within their first six months as a resident of the Classic City. Many choose to frequent more often while some get their fill with the one and done approach (not recommended), but after the visit is completed, all will find themselves to be better citizens than they were prior to visiting this historical place. Non-residents are certainly welcome anytime as well, though they do not share the same legal obligations as the local residents of Athens. Enjoy your journey through the wild world of the Athens Zoo, and always remember, don’t try to...

Park closes at 5:30 during the winter (later during the summer)! If you want to use the park after these hours park at the top lot, because you will be locked in if you park in the lower. Dog park, 1.5ish mike hiking trail with bridges over creek & road crossing, a zoo, tennis courts, a playground, and a paved loop around a pond with fountains equipped with duck feeding station are some of the attractions of this park. They do seasonal activities like a trick or treat and a holiday themed zoo tour.

Always love this park. I have been walking the trails and visiting the zoo for almost two decades and now I get to take my daughter with me and she loves feeding the ducks and turtles. She can't wait for the playground to open up again. But still plenty of activities at this versatile park in south central Athens. Plus a quiet dog park tucked away as well.
