Today I went here with my wife for the first time. I saw that this place offered “Japanese Food” in addition to their Chinese Cuisine. I lived in Japan for some time so this peaked my interest due to my military service. I have also had experience working as a sushi chef for some time. We were greeted and seated promptly, drink order was taken and brought quickly. The iced tea was very clear (not dark for those who like strong tea).
I ordered Miso Soup to start, the Lettuce Wrap with Chicken, and the Lunch Sushi Sashimi Combo. My Miso Soup was clear, like water and had virtually no flavor. The dead giveaway that whoever prepared this dish doesn’t understand what miso soup is was when I discovered white onion in the soup. Moving on to the main dish. We waited approximately 30-40 minutes before my sushi and sashimi came out. The fish was barely cold, and one piece of which I’m assuming was salmon at one point looked like a cat gnawed on it. I smelled of one of the pieces of salmon and it smelled rancid and requested the owner to smell it, so he did and said “It is fine, this is fresh. We froze it this morning.” My next question was “So all of this fish is frozen?” His reply was “yes, we freeze it”. I asked him to take the plate away because I refuse to eat frozen “sushi/sashimi”. My lettuce wrap never made it to the table. Ladies and gentlemen, there is no such thing as fresh-frozen food.
My wife ordered Two California Rolls and a Yummy Yummy Roll. The California Roll looked okay, although she didn’t try it due to the trauma I had just endured. She was more concerned with comforting me in my time of loss and grief. The Yummy Yummy roll to my knowledge, is a deep fried roll, however, in this case it was not which threw my wife off.
Moral of this story is folk’s, don’t order the sushi or sashimi here folks unless you want to end up in the ER and for goodness sake don’t try the Sushi Nachos, I couldn’t even begin to imagine. I have now entered into counseling due to this traumatic event and will keep you all posted on how treatment goes. Best...
Read moreGot there a bit before 7pm….Seemed to be just 3 tables occupied but wasn’t even greeted for 5minutes(I know….I should have left at that point) The man who finally greeted me and took my order wasn’t overly friendly either. Ordered fried rice and king pao chicken. Was told it was going to take 20-25 minutes(?), one of the three tables, I saw, had their food, I watched him deliver food to another, as I waited to be greeted, but ok. (Timer started) One table finished and left and one pick up order picked up…two phone orders called after I ordered. 30 minutes to get my food….I have 25+years in food service industry plus I am Asian, and I know these dishes don’t take long to cook….so I have no idea why it took so long. I don’t mind waiting for good food and wouldn’t have complained. But…. Food was horrible! Has to be the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had! Fried rice was mushy, clumps of white rice, very little meat or any thing else and looked very unappetizing…it was at least a bit edible after doctoring it up, after getting home. Kung pao chicken wasn’t edible! Tough chicken and had funny taste, texture was weird(had some odd coating on it) and 6(yes, I counted)peanuts. Lots of barely cooked carrots and celery though! If I lived closer I would have returned it! I write very few reviews but this I had to speak up about. Hopefully it’s not the norm for y’all that live close….but I’ll...
Read moreWalked in on a Monday evening, we were the only patrons of this small, tucked away in a big, hardly lit strip mall.
We started with the hot and sour soup along with the miso soup. The miso soup was SO SALTY that I had to send it back and get egg drop soup. The egg drop soup was better but still slightly salty, my fiancé raves about the hot and sour soup.
After we revived our soup, another couple walked in. They seem like they’ve been here before since they knew exactly what they wanted.
Next came our egg role and spring role, these things are HUGE (everything is bigger in Texas lol). Both were heavily stuffed with cabbage but over all, pretty good!
When the food came, it came out in waves even though we ordered it at the same time. The Mongolian beef was great! The Hawaiian chicken was a bit of a disappointment due to it being more of a chicken Katsu than a Hawaiian chicken, the combo fried rice was good just heavily oiled! Biggest complaint is that it didn’t come with rice, we had to ask for it!
Overall, I’d give this place a 7/10, the check was pretty reasonable as well which was a...
