Not impressed. Service was just ok - when we ate dinner our plates never got cleared away, even though we sat there for a good 10-15 minutes after finishing eating. As a former server this really bothered me. One dish that came with quinoa on the side actually came with UNCOOKED quinoa. (see photo) For a place that boasts an executive chef AND a sous chef that is absolutely unacceptable. We got a discount on our bill for that. (the server didn't even notice that it was raw quinoa, and when we pointed it out she seemed to have no idea what she was looking at - so weird). We also had the mac and cheese and it was by far the most bland I have ever tasted. Terrible. That being said I got roasted chicken and it was quite good. We also ate brunch there and it was again sub-par. All of our food came out lukewarm or cold. My mom asked for hot eggs, so they took the dish back and you could tell they literally threw it on to the plate. Her eggs were scrambled, and they came browned so definitely over cooked. I asked for eggs over medium, so the yolk should have been slightly runny, which it was not. They were again way over cooked. My uncle got waffles and they were not hot at all - the butter on them didn't even melt in the slightest. The side if fruit was all melon except like 4 tiny pieces of pineapple. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant. There are way better places in Athens.

My little girl (age 4) and I made reservations via the website for this evenings dinner. I specified that this was her first time to OU and that she was going through some intense testing that day. We arrived tired and hungry, and the lovely host asked us to wait for the manager. The Manager took us back to the nearest table that they had decked out in OU gear just for her. She made a silly kid request (she only wanted chips if they had cheese dip) and they honored it with a glorious pot of melty cheese for her. My ribeye was perfect. To cap the evening off with benigets was the highlight as she never is sad blowing out a candle. Overall, 20/10 experience - highly recommend and we will be back!

Wow, I don't know where to start. This place is amazing šŸ‘! The tavern is great. The bar service is top knotch. Drinks were always replenished, and the wait staff were 5+ stars. CJ was amazing she was so attentive and made great recommendations! She made us feel like we had known each other for years. We are definitely stopping here next time. The whole experience was fantastic! River did a great job taking care of the people sitting at the bar. You two are šŸ‘ amazing!

We’ve been coming here for years and I often do carry-out orders. We celebrate our anniversaries here and have been bringing our kids for every Valentine’s Day for the last 7 or 8 years. This year our schedule was hectic and we couldn’t come on Valentine’s Day so we made reservations for the evening before. Our reservations were at 6:30. We had a nice waitress (H) but for some reason, she either didn’t like us or kept forgetting about us because she was a decent waitress to the tables around us who arrived 15 mins and more after us and also got their food 20 to 30 minutes before us and were offered bread when we weren’t. Maybe it’s because we didn’t order anything from the bar??? We ordered apps but so did they. I don’t know but this was by far the worst service we have ever had, maybe anywhere. I’ve left some 5 star reviews here in the past but this was horrible! Our bill was still over $100 even after they took my daughters flatbread off that was charred but she said it was because it took so long, which it did. We didn’t get our main course till after 7:40-over an hour after our reservation. After we ordered our appetizers, we kept trying to get her attention to order our food but she kept going to all of the other tables around us and wouldn’t come to us till our appetizers came out. It was like she was avoiding us and I have no idea why. We weren’t mean or rude, we’re clean and don’t smell bad lol. I ordered the oysters for an appetizer because I love oysters and this is the only place I ever get to eat them. Apparently, you can only get them in buffalo or chili now which is really weird and I only wanted them plain but she made me pick one of the two. Against my better judgment I chose the buffalo. 😭😭😭 They came out so saturated and smothered in buffalo sauce that my kids liked them because it completely masked the oysters. It was like eating soft boneless wings. Such a disappointment. The whole night was. At one point, we even discussed getting up and tracking her down to get our bill and leave before our food came. Our family has always loved this place but it looks like we may be changing some traditions. And even my husband who never tips less than 30% made me decide on her tip lol. When I asked him if 22% was too little, he said it was too much for the service we received and that is not like my...

I travel to Athens often to visit my granddaughters who attend Ohio University. On May 20 we went to the restaurant to celebrate my birthday. We ordered two filet dinners that included brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes at $39 per meal . When our dinners arrived I cut my steak and took one bite and it tasted like the meat was bad it had a funny smell and my granddaughter could not eat hers either the rest of the meal the brussels sprouts and the mashed potatoes were cold. I called the waitress over and asked her if we could order something else and she said yes we had already ate an appetizer. We took a look at the menu and decided we did not want to order another meal. I shared that with the waitress who was very nice and she came back with the bill and said they had removed one of the meals from the bill and asked me if that was OK. I told her I did not think that was fair but I would pay the bill. I said I think $39 for me eating two bites of cold mashed potatoes and very little of the brussels sprouts and none of the steak in the same for my granddaughter was a bit much to pay . But I did not want to argue with her it was not her fault. So I paid the bill and I left. I was not pleased at all as to how this was handled. Traveling to Athens will no longer include this...
