My family and I decided after passing by Ochoa mexican restaurant a hundred times, to finally try it. We went in and were asked our preference as far as tables, and I asked for a booth for many reasons that don't really matter, and was told that they did not have a booth available in the room that they were using, although the adjoining room was empty. I said we would have no problem waiting for a booth to be seated. I told her we would just wait, and that we didn't mind a bit. (I have special needs children who do a lot better in a booth than at a table, especially in the middle of a full room of people.) We politely backed out of the room to the benches to wait... Only a few seconds went by when a very large woman came toward me in a huff, with no mask on, and said, "You know this is a public place, and we don't have to seat you in our other room if we don't want to." I was so taken aback by her attitude and her words that my husband noticed, and asked if I was ok, and feeling like I had just been accosted, I told him I would prefer to go somewhere else. Just FYI not 1 staff person was wearing a mask that I saw. My husband told me that he would like to get out of that dump and go to a little "hole in the wall" place my daughter Clarissa had shown us many years ago, so we went there hoping it was still open, and it was! Hernandez Mexican Restaurant in Eustace, TX. NOT EULESS, as in H.E.B., but EUSTACE out by Athens. Please don't tell anyone else about this place, I don't want anymore people to find out about it. They've had to expand already, and I don't want them to move. These nice people go out of their way to get you anything you want or need for a great meal in the middle of nowhere lol. They have Mexican and American food for the kiddos and it's great, and served with a smile and just FYI, EVERYONE WEARS A MASK THERE. They care about their...
Read moreIts NOT what it used to be however the memories carry it through. The server was UHMAZING the food was OK. The lady at the front will NEVER LEARN how rude it is to demamd tips for the servers like we didn't already tip. The least pleasant thing of the restaurant experience is checking out.... They should just lwt it work like other places let the servers handle it.
The atmosphere went from family owned and operated to even the table tops are advertising in your face destroying good pictures. I had a FANTASTIC BIRTHDAY with FANTASTIC FRIENDS regardless of the few little issues. Just sad to see how time doesn't necessarily improve somethings. I will forever hold on to the memories of the GREAT AUTHENTIC FOOD from my childhood.
UPDATE: Went back with family it has improved service was fair to good. Had a very nice waitress but she was over booked tablewise for just 1 person. I had a good meal and i think being with my family helped make this a better experience. Its Not what it was in days gone by but i liked this time more than the last so I gave 1 more ⭐️ for this inprovement.
Went again service was worse again. Forgot my large guacamole brought meat sauce to my vegetarian partner food was kinda slung/dropped on the table i will always go with family but not just on...
Read moreThis place has completely lost the business of my family. We ordered take out, as there is no other option at this time, which is completely fine and understandable. We ordered and drove 25 minutes to pick up our order. After sitting there an hour and a half, we still never received our order. Staff took our information multiple times. Numerous other customers arrived and left with their orders, yet we never received ours. So we left and will not be doing any more business with them. 30 minutes after we leave we receive a call that our order had been ready for pick up. We were there for a hour and a half, so I don't know what the problem is. This is very unacceptable. We only ordered enchiladas, which aren't good enough for the waisted time and headache. I've never had to leave a negative review, but I had to for...
