Waffle House — Restaurant in Athens

On April 15, 2025, I placed an online order approximately 15 minutes before arriving at the location. Upon arrival, I noticed there were no customers inside the restaurant. However, all of the employees, including the manager, were gathered in the back near the doorway. When an employee named Ashley approached, I informed her that I was there to pick up my online order. She seemed initially confused, then retrieved some receipts and asked if the order was under the name “Kimberly,” to which I replied yes.

It quickly became clear that my order had not even been started. I had placed it ahead of time specifically to avoid delays, as I was on a tight schedule before work. Given the situation, I requested a refund since I could no longer wait for my food to be prepared. Ashley consulted with the manager and then returned to tell me that they could not issue a refund because it was an online order.

I asked to speak directly with the manager, who told me the same thing—that a refund could not be processed in-store due to the order being placed online. I then asked for guidance on how to request a refund online, but the manager was unable to provide any direction or support. When I asked for her name, she refused to give it to me. Thankfully, Ashley did share her own name when asked.

As I left the building, I overheard Ashley discussing me with another employee, which I found to be extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I left the establishment without my food and without a refund, feeling ignored by the manager and disrespected by the staff.

Worst waffle house experience ever. There was only 6 parties there and we waited a good 10 minutes for a table to be cleared off ( 3 booths and both low and high bars were full of dirty dishes). Honestly, I think they were trying to get people to place to go orders because instead of saying "here let me clear off a table." It was "are yall placing a to go order". Another customer had to get syrup and other condiments from the dirty tables because the waitresses weren't paying attention at all, just walking around with headphones in. A gentleman had gotten food to go and when he received his food it was missing the bacon and he let to waitress know, he then waited another 15 minutes for it and finally asked the manager for his money back. Her response was "well your bacon is right there" pointing to a plate of it sitting on the pass. No apology at all. Another lady tried switching seats because nobody offered her service. The cooks were only allowing one order to be called at a time and wouldn't take another one until the first was complete done. The staff was filling the napkins holder vs cleaning off tables! They served food in to go containers instead of washing the dirty ones! I will never go to this location again. The whole crew should be fired. Went in to waffle house today June 18th 2023 hwy 31 OMG waited for an hr for table finally sat down at the low bar tables waitress didn't even acknowledge we were there, another waitress from different section had to clean previous customers dishes finally gentlemen beside us flagged our waitress and we Saud we were in a hurry she just walked off and said were behind calling in orders ok so we gave order she as far as we know be er called it in and did not even get us coffee after being submitting there for 30 -45 minutes I said can we get some coffee she ignored me and walked off that's when we left didn't get her name but she had dark short hair and was not friendly at all she needs to find another job a turtle can't run a race will never sit in her section again also the lady sitting next to us said she got there at 10 and was leaving at 12 waiting for food and said the girl was bringing 1 food item at a time 10 minutes in between getting eggs then maybe sausage then maybe a waffle somewhere in there and then had to tell her hey I need to pay my bill standing at the register waiting to pay the girl started walking this was pitiful service to...
