Club 291 — Restaurant in Atlanta

My friend and I decided to take our wives out this past weekend. The place we started to go was closed due to plumbing issues. We decided to try this place out after reading the reviews that boasted of 35 and up and laid back atmosphere. Upon arrival, we asked the lady at the door what type of atmosphere we could expect. She said older crowd and a DJ, 35 and up. Although we were hesitant just off first impressions, we decided to pay the cover and stay. What a mistake! Initially, there was a band that was finishing up, then the manager (I presume) came out stood on chairs in the middle of the dance floor and pulled back a curtain and unscrewed light bulbs. It must be the norm because no one seemed shocked but us. The waitress was rude that came to our table. I ended up going to the baby bar by the dance floor and JuJu was very cordial and polite. The music for the first hour was 35 and upish, but somewhere along the way it became a teen club with music that my kids listen to, cursing and all. This lasted for at least an hour, before "special performances", and cigarette smoke drove us out the club. I guess if you are a regular, this atmosphere is what you expect. We however, were looking for a more mature crowd, and were sorely disappointed. I will say that the food and drinks were fairly priced, otherwise it would have been a total waste of time.
