I am rooting for Bodega and am so glad to have them in our Sylvan Hills neighborhood. They have delicious pupusas and coffee, and completed a huge upgrade to the facility with the new opening.
That being said, it’s on the pricey end for not a ton of food. The pupusas are delicious but small, and they cost $8 apiece. For two adults to eat lunch, I purchased 3 pupusas to share and 2 lattes. With a tip, it was $40 and we were still hungry afterwards. While I want the workers to receive a quality wage, the amount of food received compared to the cost of entry, it just isn’t currently the value I’m hoping for. I’m concerned this potential gem won’t be a regular stop for myself and my neighbors if the cost of a full belly isn’t more attainable. There was basically beans, a veggie mix, and sweet plantains in the Mother Earth & Veggie mix, beans, and mushrooms in the Plant Base.
I enjoyed the Mother Earth slightly more. I loved that it was plant based. I liked the sauces they had. NOT the most flavorful but I believe that it was authentic to how it’s made. I’m more of a flavor gal! Still really good for plant based.
