I celebrated my birthday at Painted Pickle and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. Despite confirming with one of the owners, who also serves as the director of events, in advance that walk-in court reservations were first-come, first-serve after 8PM (as stated on their website and in-venue signage), we arrived early only to learn that the policy had changed. Now only “social play” was offered on Fridays after 8PM—which wouldn’t accommodate our group and was already full.

We did reserve two courts for our 6-8PM party guests. However, we were rushed off the courts with repeated countdowns and unnecessary aggression, and treated as if we were in the way. An approach that wasn’t taken with any other patrons. Some of our belongings were mistakenly taken by staff without apology, and several guests who paid for valet and ordered food barely had time to enjoy either. Our 8PM group was left no choice but to leave and try to make last minute plans. We went to American Axes instead and were treated wonderfully!

To conclude on a positive note, I want to commend and thank Autumn, one of the team members at the reservation stand, for being a much needed bright spot during our visit. She remained composed, attentive, and handled the situation with patience and genuine care, even taking the time to acknowledge that it was my birthday, extend a happy birthday wish, and express empathy for how things were unfolding. Her presence made a difficult experience more manageable and she deserves to be recognized for her professionalism, positive contribution and noteworthy representation of your company as a team member.

I reached out privately to one of the owners, William Stallworth, before posting my review, but never received a response. Although we’d at least hoped for an apology and acknowledgement, his silence confirmed their apathy for our customer experience. Sharing here so others can plan accordingly and avoid a...

I took off 2 stars for the very confusing and unpleasant way that time on the courts is managed. My group had issues on both ends, before we played and at the end of our time. When our time was "ready", the host told us she had already told the currently-playing group that their time was up and we could just "go tell them to leave the court." Upon doing so, the prior group definitely showed us they had more time remaining, so we got off the court so they could finish their time. The exact same thing happened at the end of our time - the host gave a ten minute warning when we had 20 minutes left and the arriving group was similarly frustrated that we were "going over our time."

We were able to talk to both groups and explain what was happening and it seemed like everyone was fine in the end, but this is not a process that should be left to the paying customers to manage. There should be a better time management system, either timers on each court, or better documentation of start and end times. I can't imagine working at the desk and trying to keep track of these times without a good process.

Otherwise, my visit was good. We arrived around 4pm and waited 2 hours for a court. The free games on the other side of the venue was fun and we were always able to find something to play if we wanted to. The bartenders were great. The pickleball host was kind enough to pour our drinks from our glasses into plastic cups for us, since no glass allowed on the courts. The courts themselves were nice and I love that there are walls on each side to limit my terrible balls going into other people's courts.

All in all, I would go back here, but probably not during peak times when time management would be extra...

Good pickleball facility. Very fun for a group of us from South Atlanta to come and play inside. Very pretty design and decor. Loved the porch around the bar/pickleball counter with the sofa and chairs. Very homey feeling. Cost was $200 for 2 courts for 2 hours. Only $12.50 per person. Not bad at all. Prices are lower during the week.

After we played for 2 hours we went to the restaurant. We had 8 people and there was no place inside for a group as large as ours to sit together. We ended up at a round table with a bench and pulled up two barstools. Not very convenient to eat. We ordered a variety of things but 3 people ordered burgers, 2 people ordered chicken strips and 2 people ordered salads. One person ordered appetizer for their meal. Everything was brought out at various times. 2 burgers came out but the other didn’t come for another 10 minutes. The 2 people with salads got their meals about 15 minutes later when every one else was done. The chicken strips looked really good. I had the popcorn shrimp appetizer. For $15, I got 8 tiny fried shrimp. What I did have tasted good but it was way too small for the price. Manager did come out and apologize for the wait on the food after we were finished eating. He gave us . Coconut, raspberry and dragon fruit. Raspberry was definitely the best.

Lots of fun games you can play for free in the restaurant like ping pong, shuffleboard, table soccer, putting, corn hole, etc. Only issue we noted was the broken/worn ping pong paddles. Made it so you couldn’t even play correctly.

All in all, we will come visit again. Already planning on a group...

The Painted Pickle offers a mixed experience, with highlights and drawbacks that shape the overall visit. Ambiance and Facilities: The courts at The Painted Pickle are undeniably pleasant, providing a conducive environment for a good game. However, it's disappointing that the court fee doesn’t cover essentials like balls and paddles, necessitating you to bring your own. This detracts slightly from the convenience factor. *lService and Amenities: Service here leaves much to be desired. Unlike similar venues where water cups and other basic amenities are readily provided, you're left to fend for yourself at The Painted Pickle. Ordering drinks and food requires a visit to the bar, which can be inconvenient during a game. Food and Pricing: The food menu leans towards the pricey side. For instance, Korean wings priced at $15 for just 6 wings may not justify the cost for some. Similarly, wagyu fries at $12 seem steep considering portion sizes and quality. Overall Impression: While The Painted Pickle offers decent courts and a comfortable setting for playing, the additional costs for equipment and underwhelming service detract from the experience. It’s a viable option if you come prepared with your own gear, but be mindful of the higher-than-average prices and service limitations. If you're primarily focused on the quality of play and are willing to overlook some of the inconveniences, The Painted Pickle could still provide an enjoyable time. However, improvements in service and a reconsideration of pricing would significantly enhance its appeal.
