I been living in Atlanta since 2010 and I always google any type of breakfast brunch or dinner restaurant to try out new. Today TreeHouse caught my attention with good food reviews and a chill environment. Got there parking was a little hectic but that was the least of my concerns. I went with my friend and her guy friend and while my friend went inside to see how long is the wait we waited outside in the car in a area we knew said reserved but of course we were just trying to see how long is the wait. Nothing too drastic right. Welp a waitress comes out yelling you can't park there so we pretty much let her know were just waiting to see if there is a wait inside. Meanwhile my friend walked out and said the same thing to her so she then proceeded to say where we can park ok cool. We park and go inside while walking up it felt awkward because it was full of caucasians and one African American waiter. We sat inside and the same girl that said something about the parking her name was Karen was suppose to be our waiter because we sat inside. Keep in mind she decided to not be our waiter and asked the African American girl to serve us of course because we were all African American. I personally did not like that, if this is your section just serve us were regular people like anyone else and food is everyone pleasure. The African American server section was outside all the way on the corner to the right so while she has several tables outside she also had to take the time to serve us inside which to me was unnecessary. Karen may have felt uncomfortable but i don't see why no one said anything rude we just wanted to know where to sit and eat brunch like everyone else. The bartender (caucasian) and our waiter sadly can't remember her name the African American waiter were very kind and had lots of manners. I appreciate there great customer service. I order pork chops with sunny side up eggs with potatoes. However, the pork chops was not pork chop it was HAM! lol taught that was different and when I asked about it they were confused but they sweared it was pork chops. Long story Short The service could of been better. As someone that is biracial Dominican Republic and Anguilla (BWI) I never encountered any form of racism or just being uncomfortable anywhere especially a restaurant in Atlanta. I have been across the street to J. Christopher and the diversity and great customer service there could NEVER compare the TreeHouse poor service. I did like the atmosphere and how chill it was but the service made my mind up about never going back there. The food was not that great or maybe I needed to order something different. The service was not good from everyone else but the bartender and African American waiter. If you ever go you will see only one African American person works there maybe they need take the time to not let customers feel uncomfortable and take the time to hire a more diverse staff. When leaving our waiter and the bartender were the only ones that said thank you for coming and people don't realize how simple those little things matter. I appreciate there generosity and hope the other staff and management who were there can learn from there kindness. This is not suppose to be a cruel review I just feel like when you leave feedback you should take it and learn how to better improve whatever the situation is for your business. I hope for the future no one else has to experience anything like this its very uncomfortable and not right for anyone to be mistreated by the color...
Read moreLove the peaceful, cozy, outdoorsy vibe here. There is only patio seating. but it has a covered roof and wooden flooring like a treehouse. It is relatively quiet considering it has multiple televisions on. There are plenty of reasonably priced food options; a good variety of American fare. I had the BBQ burger on Texas toast with sweet potato fries (no dip for the fries though) and my guest tried the steak and yummy mac-n-cheese. I've had the teriyaki burger before and it was even better than I expected. We were both very pleased. They cooked the meat to our desired temperature and the food came out pretty quickly considering they had a good crowd. We were asked to seat ourselves and it didn't take too long for the server to approach. The restaurant is kinda tucked away in a neighborhood but not hard to find. Parking is on the street and limited but it is free and I've always found a space. It is a great spot for a relaxing dinner with a date or small party when you want good quality food but don't need it to be very fancy. Spent about $20 per person including the tip, appetizer and ice tea. I'm a teetotaler so I can't critique the cocktails but they do have a bar about three stools deep so most had their drinks brought to their table. I've patronized the restaurant at different times of the year and they have remained consistent. I view this place as a good option when I want something reliable with...
Read more1st experience eating there was great so we decided to give it another go and that was a huge mistake. We ordered the steak in medium for my husband and I and a couple kids meals for our kids. Both steaks came back well-done so we asked to have it replaced. The waiter spoke so loud drawing the attention of other patrons around us expressing that he could not take the food back but will bring our replacements. We were shocked as we didn’t expect that reaction and we’re already passing our plates over to him. So they eventually brought the new steaks back. Mine was good, my husbands was still well-done but we chose to ignore it this time around. When it was time to leave the waiter brought the Cheque and to our surprise the restaurant decided to charge us for the first 2 steaks at half-off! We were taken aback because the only reason we packed the steaks in to-go boxes was because we didn’t want it thrown away after the waiter had expressed to the whole patio that he couldn’t take the food back. So the audacity of charging us for the steak is the reason for this 1 star. And to make matters worse after we refused to be charged extra for food we didn’t want in the first place they happily took back the steaks that they were initially adamant about not taking back. We were not only embarrassed but were also made to feel like we did something wrong when we just wanted the temperature of our steaks...
