This place was very dark and very noisy. I didn’t know you had to make reservations to eat here (my mistake) so when we arrived, the hostess told us we couldn’t be seated. All of a sudden, a cancellation popped up and her entire mood and attitude shifted. It went from “you’re not good enough to be here” to “let me show you your table” in 0.5 seconds. The tables were very small and the acoustics in the place were awful. I could not have a conversation without yelling. Not to mention, we got a rocky table upon sitting down. So much to the point we couldn’t lean our elbows on the table without spilling the water. We informed our waitress, who attempted to fix it. Then, another waiter saw her struggling so he came over to help. You know what his first words to us were? “I saw your table shaking when you first sat down.” So they knew they had a problem and declined to fix it until we brought it to their attention. Plus, as he tried to fix it, which was rocking violently, he managed to spill our water glasses all over the table. The waitress had to come back and clean up his mess.
The food was good. I did enjoy our entrees but I would say that a $20-30 dish should come with a side. Instead, we paid $20-30 for each entree and an extra $12 for our side of Brussels sprouts. The bread was also really good. You can also see from the photo attached how dark the restaurant was- I had to use my phone flashlight to be able to read the menu.
Even though the food was a good experience, the service was not. From the hostess giving us the stink eye upon entering to a waiter who saw we had a problem, didn’t fix it, and when he did fix it managed to spill water all over our table, I was not bowled over with confidence. I am unsure if I would come back. Especially with prices like that, I’m not sure it’s worth it.
Also parking was difficult. There is very little street/parking lot parking, otherwise you have to do...
Read moreKR Steakbar was one of the best meals I've had in Atlanta. The experience started with a wonderful host staff that seated us right away. The atmosphere of KR steakbar is very trendy and has a more modern steakhouse vibe. The bar is quite inviting with a lounge off to the side, and the cocktails are great! A huge bourbon selection. The menu is a hybrid between Italian and an American Steakhouse, which are personally my two favorite genres of food! The menu looked exceptional and I wanted to try everything on it, which leads to the best part of KR Steakbar. The restaurant offers a chef’s tasting menu for 65.00 per person. This includes the chef’s choice from 5 courses. This will start with meat and cheese, which are seriously so fresh and delicious! Three appetizers, then the fresh pasta course(all pasta made in house), that follows the beautiful steak course. The steak course can include an upcharge to incorporate the more expensive steaks. I would recommend paying 15.00 extra dollars total and adding the spinalis to the rotation! This is then followed by a decadent dessert course! I forgot to add the service was impeccable, there were at least 3-4 people waiting on our table at all times!! I would recommend a party of 6 for the chef’s tasting! I believe that is the magic number to try all the courses. Great place! High...
Read moreGreat meal.
Our party of five ate at a high top near the bar. We had an excellent waitress but I didn't get her name because I arrived late. She was attentive, engaging, and helpful throughout the evening.
Ambience: Very tastefully appointed with lots of rich wood and warm lighting.
Appetizers: We had an order of arancini, an order of meatballs, and the carpaccio. For a restaurant that bills itself as an Italian restaurant, all three were disappointing. The meatballs and arancini were both tasty but very undersized. The carpaccio was too heavily flavored with truffle oil. Fortunately that's where any complaints end.
Entrees: We went family style here. Three pasta dishes and three orders of the spinalis steak. The pastas ranged from excellent (cacio e pepe, jalapeno pesto) to very good (braised lamb with ravioli). The spinalis was perfectly cooked and flavored. After this, we are never going back to Outback.
Dessert: To me, this is where KR SteakBar shined. The ricotta cheesecake and the olive oil cake were both phenomenal.
It's not cheap. It's a great place to treat customers, out-of-town family, or for birthdays/anniversaries/similar...
