Capella Cheese — Local services in Atlanta

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, large selection of cheeses, and clean store.

My experience with Capella is a bit different from most people's experiences, but it was an amazing experience nonetheless. For context, I do not eat cheese due to lactose intolerance and therefore do not have a lot of knowledge on the subject. (They did point me to some cheeses that I am able to eat, though!)

I was there because I had an idea of creating a cheese advent calendar for my cheese-obsessed boyfriend, but didn't have a clue what cheeses would be best for this project. They patiently listened to me explain my idea (and reassured me it was a good idea, which helped calm my anxiety!) and helped me with choosing a wide variety.

In total, I bought 13 different types of cheeses. His absolute favorite so far has been the Scamorza Pig, which I only bought at the recommendation of the employees here. It has been a joy to hear how excited he's been about getting a new type of cheese every day, and hearing how much he absolutely loves each cheese. (I actually might need to send apology letters to his friends and family because he has not stopped talking about cheese for 2 weeks straight now, lol). Each day, I ask him to rate the different types so that I'll have a better idea of what to put in the next advent calendar, and every single one has been rated 7/10 or higher. The quality is amazing.

In summary, I will absolutely be back at Capella to make the next advent calendar since this one has been such a hit. The selection of unique artisan cheeses Capella offers for shipped delivery is outstanding! From gooey goats milk and beewax sealed Ape Regina from Italy to Castelinho from the Azores to a French/Swiss Alpine cheese tasting flight including Gruyere, Comte and L'etivaz... Everything looked so good that I couldn't stop clicking and putting treats in my online basket...so when my great big box of goodies arrived it was an embarrassment of riches. I had to invite friends over to help me enjoy it all and WE DID. It was all beautifully wrapped, labelled and at the perfect ripeness - seriously one of the best tasting parties I've ever had. This is a very cute store with a large cheese counter with uncommon selections, as well as charcuterie style meats, interesting crackers, etc. I stopped in to search for Christmas gifts for the more challenging recipients on my list this year and picked up a variety of items, most of which were quite good, and the in-store service was very friendly! Unfortunately, the tiny and adorable jar of tiramisu from the cooler case had gone dramatically bad - the rotten smell was overpowering upon opening.
