Finally checked this place out and I will say that the hot dog I had was excellent and the beer selection was wonderful as well. That being said, the prices are way too high considering the part of town it’s in (not walkable, you’ll need an Uber to/from there and to any other bar that you’d choose to go to) and that it’s largely a self-service model. If the dogs were maybe $5 I’d stop in to eat here all the time. Perhaps a loss-leader lawnmower beer that isn’t marked up a crazy amount (I know tallboys of High Life don’t cost $4 a can in the wild) would be a draw. Quite frankly, you need to offer something truly unique in order to tempt people out of the brewery districts and Beacon bar-crawls and I’m not sure a self-serve model with full-services prices is going to do the trick.
The vibe is very relaxed and feels more like a coffee shop, which may work for some people and not work for others. Trying to figure out the vibe was tricky, since you’d expect a place that sells alcohol to be open late and have that sort of bar atmosphere. However, around 10:30p someone started sweeping up for the night and our table as well as the only other occupied table got the message that we should leave immediately, whether that was their actual closing time or not.
The patio looks promising, though it will be a few months before it will be warm enough to try it out.
Overall, the concept seems like it can be done well, I think it just needs to work out a few small things. Interested to see how...
Read moreMy husband and I hosted a group event (~65 people drop-in style) at Red's over the weekend, as a post-elopement celebration. We could not be happier with our choice of venue - I highly recommend using Red's as a venue, our experience from beginning to end was amazing!
We had loads of support while we planned a few details from out of state - Kristen aka "Red" was quick to answer questions and send detailed information to get a feel for the beer garden space, and even met me + a couple family members to show us around on an earlier trip to GA.
Our guests had a total blast - us, too!! - and Red's was everything I recalled from living in GA. The vibes were immaculate, the space was low-key and approachable while being quirky and cool - so many of our guests raved about it! On top of that, the drink options are extensive, and we had double the fun watching our guests try new beers and chat about everything they'd had that they liked! Food is casual comfort food and surprisingly delicious; it was another hit! We have lots of vegetarian family members, and there were even multiple options for them to choose from, despite the fame of Red's hot dogs.
Every staff member working during our party was cheery, kind, and provided fast and excellent service. Overall, we give it a 100/10 and can't say enough good things. Thank you,...
Read moreI am hoping that this raises you to FIVE STARS, as this place is fantastic! Visiting from Canada and I checked high rated restaurants close by and Reds came up! Always a bit dubious about places that have a 4.9 rating, but it is so well earned. As I stated to the folks behind the counter, this place is Disney Land for beer lovers. And to the gentleman who wanted the $1.00 beer, have your fill. I will take two or three unfiltered IPAs any day. And yes, you can get a cheaper dog, but it doesn't taste like this one....
I like hot dogs and I have had some really good ones and...not. These dogs are really good! High quality! If you can eat them naked and your impressed, that is a good dog.... Anyway, not sure if was leaving the cold and snow behind, but sitting out back with my hot dog, cheese and chili fries and beer was magic!
Picnic tables and garden lighting ? Just fabulous vibe! Great place, great food, great staff! If time permits, we...
