Well I had to write a bad review, unfortunately. I’m going to start with the positive, the food was amazing bottom line. However the service made our entire experience one to remember and the cause to NEVER return! Which is really sad. I love to support black owned businesses. I’m going to try to keep it short. From the time we we were seated(which didn’t take anytime because there were empty tables) the wait for everything: someone to acknowledge us when we were seated, get something to drink, place our order, get refills on drinks, etc… was extremely long and without any apologies or care in the world. My husband and son walked outside three times because they both could not just sit and wait. My 5 year old son kept asking where is the food?They met others outside waiting as well. One mention they were outside to walk off their hunger because they were waiting so long, another women’s husband left and came back and asked did she get the check to pay and she said I’m still waiting. Another group asked for their food to go because they had waited so long. She went up to the counter to complain and her waitress followed her and had an attitude. The woman was so upset she said now I don’t even want the food. The same waitress had 2 friends dinning there and she catered to their every need and was even chatting a lot with them. This is the same waitress I had to ask for refills even though several staff walked past by us and saw every glass empty. She barely opened her mouth when I asked for a refill to say okay. We never got a refill from her but right after we asked she went to the back and came out with a refill for her friend. The friend proceeded to the front with her refilled cup, I was thinking is she walking out with their cup? Nope she went to the front to get a to go cup. I was like cool they got to go cups I made a mental note so I can get one to go as well. We finally got our food 1.25 hours later nothing was said but my son immediately said finally and said the quickest prayer over his food the waiter had to laugh. While we were tasting our food the waiter walked by letting us know he works at the other location and he does doubles he just changes his clothes and head to the other location and how much money he makes. Why he shared that with us I’ll never know. We were so over the wait we were able to taste the amazing food but immediately asked for to go boxes. I asked for a to go drink and was told sorry we do not do to go drinks. I was so over it by now I didn’t even let them know I saw the waitress friend get one from the front and walked out with it. My husband was over this restaurant and told me to give $110 for a $108 bill and he is a 20-25% tipper. I was in shock even though I get it. But I only had $109 and a $20 left over he said that’s even better and he took my purse to make sure I only gave the $109 and not put the $20 with it. I wanted to tip at least 10% but he said we are only paying for the food we ordered not the horrible service! My husband and son left before me and as I was heading to the car literally already out the door walking down the street to my car our waiter the one bragging about his shift at the other location chased me down and stated: I’m trying to take my daughter to Disneyland can you give us $4000. I was in shocked and confused at the same time I was not prepared so I was unable to talk about our bad experience etc… I understood he was trying to say what happen to my tip and call us out for not giving him one he chased me down and harassed me. All I can say was not from us and kept on walking. Wow!!! He definitely made a lasting impression, one I would never forget. I’m ending this review with the first thing I wanted to acknowledge, the food was hot and amazing! I have a picture of the amazing cornbread because I asked someone about where we could eat Easter lunch they recommended this restaurant and talked about how good the cornbread was, it really was that good! I have been a loyal patron of this establishment for the past ten years, and I must express my concern regarding a recent experience that left me quite disappointed. On my last visit, I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a staff member named Naskesha L. Unfortunately, her demeanor was less than welcoming.

I attempted to inform her that the hours listed on Google needed updating, as I had come by on a Tuesday only to find the establishment closed. Additionally, there was a mix-up with my order details. While I waited in my car for my pre-paid meal, I noticed the "Open" sign turn off. Rushing back inside to retrieve my order, I was surprised to be handed my food through the door while being locked out. Other customers were allowed in, but I was not.

Upon examining my order outside, I was met with considerable disappointment. The portion sizes were noticeably smaller than what I had come to expect, and the taste was off. My seafood dish, particularly the blackened salmon, appeared and tasted completely different from previous orders. I'm unsure if the food was spoiled or simply not seasoned correctly, but the overall quality did not meet my expectations, and two of my entries were unsatisfactory.

In seeking resolution, I spoke with Nakesha L, and a cook approached to assist as well. However, Naskesha sent the cook away and insisted that there was nothing she could do regarding my complaint, stating that all sales were final. To my shock, she then called the authorities without informing me of her intentions. I was taken aback by this reaction, as I was neither loud nor disrespectful; I simply sought clarity on how to resolve the issue.

I explained that I needed assistance before leaving, particularly since the meal was unedible. Despite my efforts to address the problem, she reiterated her decision to involve law enforcement, which left me with no choice but to stay and request an incident report, as I would need to dispute the charge with my bank.

This experience was an unfortunate inconvenience, especially on Valentine's Day—a day when I had hoped to enjoy a meal I eagerly anticipated. I have supported this business for many years, along with my family, having been a customer since its very first location. I even had the pleasure of meeting the owners, a husband and wife duo who have built a strong reputation for their establishment.

I believe that had there been more accommodating staff members, the situation could have been resolved amicably. Thank you for taking the time to read about my experience, and I hope that my feedback can contribute to improving future interactions with customers.

This was my first time visiting Atlantic City and my first time trying this restaurant. Everyone I traveled with spoke so highly about this place and we even stopped here to grab food before we checked in to our hotel. Upon entering the restaurant the first thing I noticed were the signs stating that they were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, also that diners in hours were limited. They also have signs by the registers stating that all sales are final, no refunds, no exchanges, and no returns.

We called in a phone order and came in to pay and pick up the food. My god mother looked over the food and everything was in the bag, $100+ worth of food. My meal was the “House Salad” with grilled chicken which stated cucumbers, tomatoes, and red onions on the online menus. While we waited, I also glanced at the menu in store, noting that the salad description was the same.

We arrived back to the hotel and began eating our meals. I tried my sister’s food (The cabbage and ribs were good. The Mac and cheese and cornbread were decent. The peach cobbler was too sweet and gritty like they poured the sugar straight from the bag and served it so that went in the trash.).

I noticed that the salad I ordered was not the salad I received, this salad had no cucumbers, no red onions, but instead feta cheese and of course tomatoes. My sister and I both try some of the chicken and feta cheese on the salad, which sat on top. As I began mixing the salad up, to my surprise there are walnuts underneath the chicken. My sister and I immediately began to panic as we both are allergic.

We took our medication but of course the allergic reactions had already begun with both of us itching, welting up, and breaking out in hives. Once our reactions were under control, my sister called and explained the situation and they offered to remake the salad without nuts. We returned to pick up the salad and of course the menus that were out upon our first visit were no longer spreaded out on the counter. The cashier jokingly laughed and said we must have been looking at an old menu. Mind you I looked at the pictures of the menu that was online, one of which lacked descriptions but contained prices, and the one in store. How am I supposed to know that the menus were old, your in store menus were outdated, or that a “house salad” wasn’t the typical house salad?

Please update your menus, hours, and prices on google. As a first time customer, this was not the experience I expected. This could have been much worse for my sister and I. And the way it was handled overall left a...
