Athens in Auburn used to be one of our very favorite places to go it was a mom and pop shop and the servings were adequate, the food was fresh and plentiful and the service was Top Notch. On this trip I ordered a Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza, I had wanted to add half mushroom half Olive but unfortunately they charge you per topping so that would have been two additional toppings not one. The crust is not as buttery and crispy as I remember from past so that was a disappointment. the salad for $3 was minimal at best. It was a simple salad no extras nothing to write home about, I remember when it used to come with tomatoes and mozzarella cheese, and possibly some cucumber, those days are gone. The service was pleasant, I was a little disappointed that my blue cheese was not in my to-go bag as I had requested, but the meat marinara sauce with the cheese bread was exceptional and I would definitely order that again. As the prices here are moderate, this is a special place for me to go and unfortunately will not be back again for a while.

***we did give this place a second try and I ordered my pizza with light sauce and it was much better. We will definitely be ordering from here regularly now. I also had the baked spaghetti and it was ok but I tasted a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg which I know is common in some regions of Italy but it's not my favorite. I have had worse though. We ordered two pizzas for pickup, a large Athens special no salami add shrimp and a small pepperoni and mushroom both were delicious. The only negative part was there was way too much sauce on the small pizza and it was a soggy mess by the time we got it home. Still ate it though and it was worth it. Under the cheese toppings aren't my favorite because they didn't cook well and the flavor of roasted peppers and onions is so much better but I did enjoy these pizzas. There's also a lot of cheese on these bad boys and I appreciate that. I would definitely order from here again and just request light sauce. I feel like dining in this restaurant would be the best way to eat their pizzas.

This was our first dine-in experience here. We have previously ordered take-out. The staff was very attentive and came to our table at the right times. Kept our drinks full, told us stories about their family and locations. The place was seriously clean. Some booths, some tables. We ordered a meatball sandwich and spaghetti. We could only eat about half but we finished it for dinner later. The food tastes really good. The cheesy layer on the spaghetti was yummy! The pasta came with a salad (very fresh veggies) and garlic bread. We have also enjoyed the lasagna and gyro via take-out. The older gentleman sitting next to us and a gal at another table absolutely devoured their whole pizzas so fast that I assume they taste good too! The waitress mentioned they make a gyro pizza too. There is also beer on the menu. We will be back, we enjoyed the sense of family values here and the yummy food.

We always order the grinders to go and never had any issues until last night. I had my daughter place our usual order of two salami grinders with added pepperoni and pineapple (dont judge 😄) and three pastrami. When my daughter called the order in, the staff member told her she should order the "cold cut" grinder and have the pepperoni and pineapple added to that because it would be cheaper.... Cheaper? I'm still trying to figure that one out. Anyway, my daughter told her to place the original order like we want and she'll be in to pick it up. When she got home (we live in milton) my family and I were ready to eat our grinders, only to find that the two 2 usuals we get, the salami with the pepperoni and pineapple added were in fact the cold cut grinders. I was also charged for the extra pep and pineapple I wanted added, but they weren't. The cold cut grinders were by far the worse sandwiches we ever had from athens, and to be charged for extra's we didnt receive, only made the experience much more upsetting. If this happens again, they'll lose our business and we'll find another place to go as athens isn't the only restaurant to serve grinders. Which is sad because we've been going to athens regularly...

A good friend of mine and his family treated me to a day at the races in Auburn and before going home they took me to this hidden gem. What are the owners came calling my friend by his first name for a brief happy conversation. The minions laid out nicely and has deliciously described entrees & enticing appetizers. My buddy said he was going to order a "cheese" pizza, "okay Kevin" (Home Alone reference) thinking who orders cheese pizza? I ordered the baked ravioli. When the food arrived at a table I immediately was driving for my camera before I can get started on my ravioli I was handed a piece of the "cheese pizza" as the flavors of the rich sauce & complexity of the perfectly melted cheese blend my friend just gave me a side smile and they look of "uh-huh you're welcome"the best ravioli one of the best I've ever had. While the food is customarily thought of Italian, Athens chef's definitely have definitely infused some Mediterranean flavors into the mix and boy did they do it well. I will be back this establishment time and time again. If you're looking for a unique meal, coupled with great atmosphere and service all brought you at...

The food is great as always. Would give a 5 but service was not very good. Came in to be seated, there was one person in front of me. Took 5 minutes for someone to say hi. By now there were 6 people in the lobby area. I get it there to go business was busy. They handed me a menu and said sit where ever you want and walked away. I sat my self and waited another 5 minutes before anyone came over to offer water. I ordered a salad and small pizza. Salad came right away. That was good waiting 15 or so for pizza again that's not bad. Then no one else check on me for 20 mins. By then I'm done. My drink had been empty for 5 to 10 minutes. They offered at that time if I we ould like a refill. A little late I'm ready to leave. No one smiled no one was in a rush (I liked the casual part) but you could still check on your customers before they are done. There were only about 5 tables being used in the sitdown part so not to busy. I watch a guy have to flag down the server twice. Just not the same great experience I got last time. Kinda blaa on the service part...but...
